Originally bought this for dry camping and it did the job. First real use was when we went north after Matthew last year and due to road closures we stayed at a couple different WalMarts and it ran everything including the 15,500 ac. Even though it could run the fridge I kept it and the water heater on propane. Also, it struggles with both the ac and microwave so I shut the ac off briefly when I used the microwave. But the real test came recently with Irma as our house lost power. We plugged in the refrigerator, 8000 btu portable air conditioner, and charged our phones and laptops and had at least 3 lamps on at a time. With all this, it ran just under 9 hours before running out of gas. I ran 89 octane non-ethanol gas so I'm sure that made a difference.

Comments about Champion Power Equipment 2800/3100 Watt Portable Gas-Powered Inverter Generator:

I bought this generator in preparation for hurricane Irma coming to Tampa. After receiving the generator I un-boxed it and realized there was no assembly to be done at all. I put in the specified amount of oil, filled the gas tank, turned on the choke and it started on the second pull. Interestingly, we never lost power at my home so I lent the generator to a friend who wasn't so fortunate and he used it for a day without issue. I was originally looking at a Honda or Yamaha but I am very impressed with the quality. Also very quiet.

Right out of the box. Added oil and connected the battery. Added gas, cranked and let it run for several minutes and I could not get voltage to the 120v side. The 12 Volt worked. No circuit breakers were tripped. I bought this for Hurricane Irma. I am glad that I did not need it as It would have failed me from the start

I just have to say this 3100watt generator is perfect for camping with your RV. I have had this thing now for 3 years and it runs great. Had a 2000watt Honda and it just didn't cut the mustard on output. Gave this 3100 a try and I just love it. I have had 2 issues though, the recoil started has worn out twice and champion costumer service was awesome. Sent me a new one for free every time. I would recommend this brand to everyone.

Bought this in anticipation of Hurricane Irma. When the power went out, I pulled it out of the box, oiled and gassed it up, and it started on the first pull. Running a large "dorm" fridge, small microwave, a couple of fans, a tv, some lamps, coffee pot, etc. in econony mode with no problems. So far, so good. I love that there was no assembly and that it worked on the first pull. Subtracted 1 star because the oil fill and drain are kind of awkward to work with unless the unit is elevated (e.g., table, tailgate).

Wanted a super quiet generator that could start a twin turbine blower that requires 23 amps to start. Found this on sale and the reviews seemed favorable enough to try it. Far exceeded my expectations in power, ease of starting, and quiet operation. Filled the oil and gas, 2 pulls and it fired and ran. We have run it about 15 hours so far, so I don't know about longevity, but for the price I can buy 4 of these for what a comparable wattage Honda costs.

I agree with most all of the reviews...a great value for the money. Follow the break-in procedures and all scheduled maintenance. I know nothing o f Db ratings, but this unit is pretty quiet from the front and not bas from the back/muffler side either. The one tip I would give is to make sure the gas cap is on all the way, else the engine will stutter and fluctuate trying to get gas. For the occasional weekend of boondocking, where you want the AC running, this is a good solution. It will run all your appliances including a hair dryer, coffee pot and electric heater...but not when the AC is running. Buy a cover. If you want a GFCI outlet, outlet covers and DC outlet, then buy another/newer model, Buy a magnetic oil dipstick at the same time.

This powerful generator inverter helped us after Hurracane María. We where able to turn on the two door refrigerator, our cellular phones, my laptop, two fans, etc... You need to turn on as indicated step by step or it will not turn on your utilities. Strict step by step as indicated, do not skip steps.

Bought this 5 days before Irma hit Florida. Followed the directions in the manual and the unit started up right out of the box. Very impressed. Will be using this for camping mostly but it came in handy in the emergency too.

Outstanding little generator. Very happy with the noise levels, was surprised at how light and easy to move it is. Folding handle and wheels make it very easy to move around, very light for 3100w, can easily pick up out of pickup bed and carry around. Very, very happy with purchase.

Comments about Champion Power Equipment 2800/3100 Watt Portable Gas-Powered Inverter Generator:

Awesome and worthy upgrade from Champion 2000w 73536i to the 3100w 75531i.
                              Concerns about upgrading:
                              1) that our gas consumption would go up
                              2) the bigger unit might be harder to move around
                              3) extra power may not be enough for RV a/c unit

BAM! None of the above concerns are an issue.

                              1) because the 75531i has more wattage, the lights and other items we run use only 25% of capacity, so we still get a full night [8 hours] of light with negligible amount of extra gas
                              2) ok, the handle and wheels work! The 3100w unit is considerably heavier than the 2000w unit but the wheels plus rotating handle are balanced well enough to roll the 75531i over dirt.
                              3) fires up the a/c unit with no problems. going to add a capacitor to give the a/c a bit more juice when starting up and ease the demand on the 75531i. With a full tank of gas [1.6 gal.] and the a/c running consistently, we get 5-6 hours of runtime. AMAZING!!!

Overall, LOOOVE this new 3100w unit.
