Excellant starter text

Comments about Centerstream Publishing The Perfect Harmonica Method (Book/CD):

This book was developed for music appreciation classes. Accordingly, it provides instruction in basic music theory, which is useful for beginners. However, even those with some musical background will appreciate the structured format that introduces each note of the harmonica, provides excercises for reinforcement, then simple tunes using the notes already learned. The ability to make music almost from the start provides a sence of accomplishment and incentive to continue. The accompanying CD provides opportunity for further development by allowing the student to play along on many of the songs. The only criticism I have is that the author wrote down a few incorrect notes in some of the songs, but the observant student will soon figure it out. Potential purchasers of this book should be aware it is structured exclusively for a 10-hole harmonica pitched in the key of C. The author recommends the Hohner Blues Band model.
