Overview

The 35XC replacement speaker is built using tried-and-tested materials and construction methods, and incorporates several new design features and techniques. Drawing on 90 years' experience, Celestion has been able to create a uniquely versatile speaker whose attributes will be familiar to those who know Pulsonic coned speakers.

Capable of delivering open and musical cleans without sacrificing an immensely satisfying crunch or searing, overdriven lead lines, the 35XC is made to engage your musical soul. This speaker exhibits poise, tonal evenness and freedom from souring colorations, characteristics typical of speakers with Pulsonic cones, as well as adding a little more sparkle and air to your sound.

A 90th anniversary gift from Celestion to players who won't compromise in their search for great tone.

Sounds great, and we're not even broken in yet!

Comments about Celestion G12-35XC 90th Anniversary Limited Edition 12" 35W 8ohm Replacement Guitar Speaker:

The speaker at this stage admittedly has one hour on it in a Budda closed back 2X12 cab powered by a Budda Superdrive 30 Series II. Compared to the stock speaker, this takes care of the harsh mids I was experiencing and replaces it with a very signature Celestion frequency response. The bass is a little light, but I expect that this is the stiffness of the speaker just out of the box and will sort itself out. Based on the initial experience, I expect this to be more in vintage 30 territory. The place where this speaker really wins me over is the highs. There is this tasty detail to it that I haven't had before, and overdriving the speaker doesn't mush out in the same way as the stock. The midrange keeps some of the detail and molds into that celestion "shape" when pushed, while there isn't a harshness like a V30 as you go up in frequency - it just starts singing. I'm loving it so far, and will update as things unfold.

Update on the prior review

Comments about Celestion G12-35XC 90th Anniversary Limited Edition 12" 35W 8ohm Replacement Guitar Speaker:

As the speaker has broken in, it has taken on a very sweet, classic character and voice. It gives the very rich, old british clean that has a lot of midrange depth and character. The highs have good presence but are smooth and not fatiguing. The bass has really filled in, and it remains tight but isn't as subdued at all as it was when the speaker was just out of the box. It isn't going to accent what isn't there, but when you have an amp that puts out some lows it will give them to you in a tight, non-flabby way. I love turning this up and pushing it, as it just sings with that beautiful midrange. It is a bit surprising that it isn't alnico due to the richness, but when pushed it holds together nicely. Have these in a 2X12 Budda Cab run by a Budda Superdrive 30. I like the fats, but there was a harshness to the speaker in the midrange that almost killed the amp for me. Changing to this speaker was a whole new world with this amp. It sounds strange, but the modes act more different, the EQ actually works, and the bright switch is usable. I didn't think that a speaker would convert an amp from having just one usable sound, but it has. I can use cleans (the nickname is "dirty 30" for a reason), I can get a distortion sound that isn't the awesome but specific sound of "EQ at 12" to sound like I expect. I love it. Worth every penny.

Comments about Celestion G12-35XC 90th Anniversary Limited Edition 12" 35W 8ohm Replacement Guitar Speaker:

This driver provides excellent chime and breaks up beautifully with great definition.
The twist here includes a vintage cone but has a rear core opening of around 1/2" in the ferrous core which will help retain a bit more top end in a 4x12 closed back cabinet.
I've loaded four into a 4x12 and I'm extremely pleased. I am a huge Scumback H75 fan and can only suggest Celestion used hardly any doping on the cone. Just a tiny bit on the outer edge. Perhaps the greatest Celestion creation the past decade.
Get them now or you'll miss out...
      Only 3,000 were made.
I purchased four of the 8 ohm version on the recommendation of San Bernardino Guitar Center.
Thank you for the excellent service at the parts and accessory counter!
