I found Vintage 30 in stock at a Guitar Center 45 minutes from me. I have a Fender Roc Pro 1000 Combo 1*12 and a GE412 cabinet. I replaced the stock Fender speaker in the combo with this one. WOW. I will no longer be looking for a new head. I couldn't be happier. The difference is ridiculous. We play everything from Prince to Marilyn Manson; it handles it all. The dirty channels are beautiful and the clean is sparkling. All the talk about Celestion losing quality by outsourcing is rubbish. Buy it, you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to to finish my GE412 with Vintage 30's and Greenbacks in an X pattern.
The Celestion Vintage 30 speakers have a nice FAT magnet that doesn't saturate quickly so the speakers response curve stays consistent even at high volume levels. They have a really nice balanced Midrange, solid low end and highs that are never shrill or "brittle" sounding. Just pop four of these into a Marshall 1960A or 1960B cabinet and you'll see what I'm talking about.
There's a reason why Eddie switched back to these! Even after coming up with his own brand Celestian. Replaced them in my Marshall 2.12 1936 lead cab. It sounded great before but now its just untouchable! Put this cab against anything out there and you will loose. Maybe a jazz player might like something else but who plays jazz anyways? Handles all else with authority!
