I put this speaker in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It brought a few more harmonics out of the amp. Has a little of the sparkle and punch a British amp has. Very pleasant sound at not a lot of money. Worth trying out.
Gave this a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating because it's a "Chinese Celestion", sure, there's a cheap little sticker about the size of a penny(nothing like the one pictured) on the back of the magnet that says Celestion on it but then there's another label along the edge of the magnet(unseen from the angle pictured) that says "made in China". Having said all that, I put it in a 60 watt, open-backed combo amp & it sounds just fine. It's tight & punchy with crisp highs when playing the clean channel & warms right up when you pump a little distortion thru it too. If you can get past the "sticker shock", it's a good buy.
The first Celestion Seventy 80 I picked up blew me away! For a ceramic magnet type driver, it has amazing warmth! The tone was so sweet, I bought two more for my next cabinet I'm building. Totally impressed. Perfect for anything that has a little overdrive or Digitech style grunge distortion. The cleans are perfect for a tweed amp with a closed back cab. For the price it's undeniable. Weber? fagetaboutit, you don't need to fork out $120 or more. This does it all. Unless your into thin nazzley sound don't go to a jam without this speaker.
