Overview

Casio has always kept themselves at the forefront of electronic musical equipment, and have traditionally done so with an open mind. This free thinking has rendered many wonderful designs that are unique to the electronic music industry. One of the latest innovations is the XW-PD1, an electronic music creation hardware device that looks, thinks and sounds like no other.

The first thing that will strike you is its appearance. Owing more to spaceships in movies than it does to traditional œgroove box devices, it is housed in a Ferrari Red chassis with a pad grid on one side and control and registry devices on the other. It features a powerful step sequencer, incredible sounds, professional-quality effects and remixing capability.

Crisp, Pro Sounds
You need a wide variety of sounds if you'e going to make dance music. That' why the XW-PD1 is fully equipped with the hottest sounds arranged by professional musicians and DJs/producers. Drums in a wide variety of idioms, rich basses, orchestral hits and instruments, and other-worldly sounds that are impossible to describe are avaiulable to orchestrate your grooves.

Sequence Loops with Ease
With rotating lights, the new Sequence Step Keys allows you to check the rhythm pattern at a glance. Grooving to the music with an eye on the rhythm pattern, you can easily create your own original beats and produce unique tracks just by tapping outrhythms on the pads. Then, all you have to do is lay melodies and bass lines over the top!

Transform Your Creations with Powerful Effects
The XW-PD1 comes with 200 different effects to dramatically transform your sounds. Intuitively arrange music to your taste by, for example, emphasizing hooks or inserting floor-pounding drops. Control the music however you want.

Remix Your Favorite Tracks
Connect the XW-PD1 to a smartphone or digital audio player via a mixing console andmix or remix your favorite tracks. Apply effects to manipulate songs freely and sample your favorite parts to insert into other songs, giving new life to your favorite music. In addition, the XW-PD1 lets you jam simply by connecting a keyboard or other electronic instrument.

Features
  • Powerful sound engine
  • Versatile step sequencer
  • Pro-quality effects
  • Remix capacity

Once you read all manuals it becomes very easy to make music. It has a lot of functions and is loaded with 14 drum kits, 200 instrument, and 200 effects. It has a 4 bank, 8 pattern, 16 step sequencer with 100 user slots to save your work. It has 100 built in songs that you can play around with to give you ideas of what is possible on this device. It samples from line in or mic. It has MIDI over USB but, it won't send or receive clock info so if you connect to other MIDI devices it can lose sync. One of its better features is the effects functions. Plug in a DJ rig through line in and you can apply effects like roll, HPF, LPF, LFO, Phaser, Flanger and more. This is a fun portable music creation device once you understand all its functions.

I got demo item with security cable still stuck with the item. The item is deliveryed two days late. No manual inside. No wrapper.

The Item uses perfectly fine but just look old and that security thing, there's no way to get rid of without scratch. And that make me looks like I using stolen item.

Comments about Casio XW-PD1 Trackformer Groove Center:

There is only one down side to this unit.... and that is that there is a lot to learn. But that is because it does a lot. A week of working with it and you are Dr. Dre or Trent Reznor. Very intuitive and great sounding. Still a lot to learn, but already making great stuff. Highly recommended!

Comments about Casio XW-PD1 Trackformer Groove Center:

It's great for making sound effects or simple backing tracks. Playing along with the track on the pads can be satisfying. The manuals are not great and an important one is only available as a download. No midi 5 pin jack but can talk MIDI to a computer if one is so inclined. Nice that it will run on batteries. 32 12 bit samples; 42KHZ sampling; they sound very good. A really fun thing is assigning effects to the machine's controls and manipulating them in real time. There is a simple utility that can be gotten off of the Casio website that makes the initial setup a lot less painful; connects via the large type of USB cable (like for older printers). The live manipulation of samples is what got me; the sale price made it a gonga.

This thing is so complicated and the manuals so horrible that it's doubtful I'll ever figure it out. Probably why it's being dumped. On the positive side, it is well-built and sounds great.

Comments about Casio XW-PD1 Trackformer Groove Center:

I bought this to play with and hopefully teach my 6 year old intro level beat making. Once you understand the configuration it is a lot of fun. It has a ton of sounds and will keep us occupied for some time. I would not be impressed if I paid fill price but it a good value at the current sale price.

Comments about Casio XW-PD1 Trackformer Groove Center:

A cool little machine that does a lot. No, it won't replace your MPC or your DAW, and I certainly wouldn't consider using it as your main sampler/sequencer, but it will definitely add some serious groove tools to your arsenal. It's absolutely loaded with sounds and effects. You really can't beat it for the price.

Watch the online "how to" videos, and away you go. I use it in my looper rig, and its great. Fun to make beats, good drum sounds. I also use the keys, synths, and pads. I just happened to see this on sale, and ordered it. It actually has replaced my akai drum machine...which I was not expecting!

Comments about Casio XW-PD1 Trackformer Groove Center:

My four year old is strangely obsessed with electronic music, and desperately wanted a certain multi-colored midi controller he saw people using on YouTube. I'm glad he's interested in music, and sample pads/midi controllers seemed like a good way to introduce him to rhythm and composition, but I was not going to sacrifice my laptop to a toddler. Unlike the other pads, this Casio unit can be fully functional as a standalone, with even a built-in speaker, which is perfect for him. After a few youtube tutorials I was able to learn enough to teach him how to do the basics, like switch between sounds. He now can "play along" to all the dubstep, trap, and EDM he wants. I've probably made it sound like a toy, and it totally looks like one, but it's really a pro-grade piece of equipment. I haven't even plugged it into a computer yet, which gives a whole other world of functions, but just messing with the presets I can make beats that sound like a lot of the pop music on the radio right now. Eventually we'll get into those features, but for now, this is perfect.

Super fun to use as an outboard unit with a DAW. I write the midi in Ableton and then send it to the trackformer and then back in through my audio interface. The synth engine is great and the drum sounds are good. Great way to get experience using outboard gear for really cheap.
