Known as the Compact Grand Piano, the CGP-700 delivers groundbreaking technology, a sensational sound system and a world-class keyboard action that is perfect for aspiring and professional pianists alike. As a manufacturer of keyboards for over 35 years and consumer electronics for more than 65 years, the CGP-700 is the culmination of Casio's innovation and experience in these industries. Casio's CGP-700 provides the experience of a full-size acoustic grand piano at a fraction of the price.

Color Touch Interface
At the center of the CGP-700 is a beautiful 5.2 Color Touch Interface. The display is bright, clear and easy to read, and makes navigating tones and rhythms simple and intuitive. In addition to the display, the CGP-700™s front panel has a dedicated button for Grand Piano allowing you to access your primary sound instantly. Transpose buttons allow you to change keys without navigating a menu.

6 Speaker Sound System
The CGP-700 has a 40-watt sound system with four speakers in the top of the CGP-700 providing a rich stereo experience and two additional speakers located in the CGP-700's included stand for low frequencies. The CGP-700 also features a stereo input allowing you to listen to your MP3 player or other devices through the sound system.

Key Action
The CGP-700 features Casio's Tri-Sensor Scaled Hammer Action II keyboard, engineered to provide the touch of a concert grand piano, enabling young players to develop proper technique and advanced players to feel at home. Casio has scaled the weight of the keys to replicate the larger hammers in the bass register and smaller hammers in the treble register. To further the experience, the CGP-700 features simulated Ebony and Ivory-textured keys for an incredible feel.

The Concert Grand Piano Sound
As one of the pioneers of digital sampling technology, Casio put its years of experience into reproducing the most important sound, the Concert Grand Piano. Casio meticulously recorded the sound of a world-class 9-foot concert grand piano. Casio's team recorded the piano at four dynamic levels, mixing each of the microphone positions until the ultimate piano experience was captured. The result is a grand piano sound that is dynamic, expressive and rich.

Rhythm Section Included
The CGP-700 has 550 instrument tones including newly developed guitars, basses, drums, stereo string ensembles, synths and more. These instrument tones take advantage of the CGP-700™s powerful effects system, which include phasers for electric pianos, distortions on guitars, and rotary speaker effects for organs. The CGP-700 is a full ensemble digital piano with 200 built-in Rhythms, including drum patterns with fills, variations and full accompaniment. Tones, layers, splits, rhythms, accompaniment and tempo can be stored and instantly recalled.

At Home or on the Stage
For performing musicians, the CGP-700 can be removed from its included stand. Without the stand, the CGP-700 weighs 26 lb., making it one of the most portable 88 key digital pianos available with a fully weighted keyboard action. In addition, the speakers in top of the CGP-700 work without the subwoofer system so you have speakers with you wherever you go. If you need additional amplification, connect to a mixer, PA system or keyboard amplifier using the ¼ outputs on the rear panel.

That moment of inspiration
The front panel of the CGP-700 has two headphone outputs located on the front of the instrument. When the headphones are in use, the internal speaker system is muted, allowing you to play and practice in privacy. Everything you'e playing on the CGP-700 can be recorded as a .wav file to a USB thumb drive.

Lesson Ready
Equipped with Duet Mode, the CGP-700 can split the keyboard into two equal ranges allowing student and teacher to work side by side on the instrument. An additional Classroom Mode splits the keyboard and configures the CGP-700 audio outputs to work with third party piano lab systems allowing two students to use the CGP-700 simultaneously.

Computer Connectivity
The CGP-700 connects to your PC, Mac or other devices through a class-compliant USB port. Class Compliant means that the CGP-700 is designed to work with your computer without the need to download drivers. Just plug it into your computer and you are ready to use your favorite software. With the CGP-700™s aux stereo input, audio from your computer or tablet software can be experienced through the CGP-700™s speaker system making it a totally integrated solution.

Total Solution
Featuring an easy-to-use Color Touch Interface, authentic grand piano sound, world-class keyboard action and a phenomenal sound system, the CGP-700 presents an impressive array of features delivered with cutting edge technology and exceptional value.

Comments about Casio CGP-700BK Digital Compact Grand Piano:

When I visited guitar center in Totowa, NJ, I was looking for a keyboard with built in speakers and a more "permanent" stand. Something for our home, for casual, everyday use. I love to play different types of music, from Classical, to Jazz to Contemporary Christian Music. That being said, I've played from "cheap" "old" Casio style keyboards to Steinway Grand Pianos. Of course nothing beats the sound of an authentic grand, (or even stand-up piano), but since I rent an apartment, I wanted to control the sound and get the keyboard that sounded most realistic.

There were plenty of options at Guitar Center, and I played some of the "pricier" keyboards and I was shocked with how "plasticy" it sounded. The touch wasn't as responsive, the sound wasn't as realistic. When I sat on this Casio- CGP-700BK, I knew it was the one. The keys felt very close to a grand, the sound was also closer to the real deal. I also like playing different types of Organ sounds, the R&B type, and the gospel type, and those sounded amazing!

Overall Great product, the only thing was trying to assemble this. It came with zero instructions, but I have a knack of putting things together and figuring out parts and pieces, so it was rather a fun challenge for me to try and put it together. For those who don't like putting things together, might want to ask for some help from either Guitar Center or Casio.

Comments about Casio CGP-700BK Digital Compact Grand Piano:

I'm primarily a guitarist/vocalist/songwriter and I bought this as my first 88-key weighted keyboard in my attempts to learn piano and keys. This has a ton of features, and every once in a while I play around with them or the different sounds, but 99% of the time it's on the default grand piano sound. It's a decent sound; I find it most convincing in the bass and middle registers. The upper register is not as good to my ears, it has some slightly annoying ringing, vibrating characteristics that I'm probably not describing well, but I'm guessing that this is the difference between this moderate price range and higher-end products, and it's satisfying for where I am now in playing piano. There are crazy numbers of different sounds; I almost wish there were fewer, as it's hard to choose and remember what I like. There are some good electric pianos and some decent organs, but I like the drawbar organ on my non-weighted Casio WK-7600 much more. The volume and sound quality from the built-in amp and speaker system is quite good. The stand, speaker and pedal systems work well and are convenient, and I like the fact that I could disconnect the keyboard from the stand and take it to gig or jam with a separate amp. I'd previously bought a comparably-priced Yamaha and returned it to get this, and I think that was a good move.

Comments about Casio CGP-700BK Digital Compact Grand Piano:

The ONLY thing I would have added was a visual reference when you transpose. You can hit the transpose buttons (which is a NICE feature - as you don't have to go into menus/dropdowns/etc), but there is no visual reference on the transposition "real-time".

Upgrading to the CGP-700 from another digital (with external speakers) and the CGP feels and sounds 10 times better. This has probably the best feel and one of the best sounds of any digital piano I have played.

Comments about Casio CGP-700BK Digital Compact Grand Piano:

I one of these from Guitar Center. I bought it because of two things, the way it feels and the way it sounds. I am sure it does a lot of tricky high tech stuff but all I wanted and want from it now are the basic sounds and the way it feels.
I have never found anything that feels so much like a piano. Casio really nailed it when they made this action. It has an ivory feel to the keys and the pressure and weight of it is a lot like my favorite piano that I have had for 45 years. It is a really great piano - this is a really nice feeling keyboard. Just for the record, I own several pianos and I tune my own.... I'm picky.
As far as built in speakers, this sound very good. It has a stand that can be removed quickly with only a few screws, the speakers unplug and off to the gig you go. I have used it live and love it and you will too.
The ONLY thing I don't love about it is that there are some keyboards out there with much better overdriven fender rhodes suitcase model sounds. This one is nice and might be able to be adjusted but I have some other keyboards that drive much harder when struck hard. The sound they give does not have that distorted sound down as well. That being said, there are still a few good rhodes sounds and plenty enough to work with.
Again, I have not gotten into the tech end of it at all. I have a computer full of samples and never needed to.
If you are a piano player and want to close your eye and pretend you are on a really nice piano, buy this CGP and don't look back.
