  • Best OD pedal I've found

As reviewed by Donald Hightower on 11/10/2011

I've used alot of overdrive and distortion pedals over my 40+ years of playing. Almost all work with some amps and not others, as well as guitar amp combinations. This pedal is the only one that has worked equally well with my Marshall stack, Mesa combo, and my DRRI, whether I use my Les Paul, Telecaster,or Stratocaster. You can play loud or quiet as a mouse and still get a good sound.

  • So Good

As reviewed by Brian Petit on 5/17/2010

The Plexitone gets that Marshall Plexi Sound down pact. Most distortion pedals turn to mud with drive down to 9 O' clock, but Carl martins plexitone stays clear throughout, and the select lets you bring up the distortion levels for a proper lead sound without compromise. This pedal is a boutique right out of the box. Highly recommended.

  • Marshall Stack in a pedal!

As reviewed by Mitch on 3/3/2011

First, give credit where it is due. GC price matched this pedal to another internet vendor, and save me a few dollars. I know GC's quality because I got my first real Gibson at their store; a beautiful HCS Standard Traditional Pro. On to the pedal - I've always thought these pedals were overpriced, but with my setup I had to take the plunge. I run through a VOX AD30VT-XL tube hybrid I got from GC (look for my review with the 15w version) with plenty of UK/Mesa presets but they're pretty much near dimed. They sound great wide open, but weak when rolled off. That's where this pedal fits in. I use the clean channel on the amp with a little chorus/echo for cleans, then the Plexitone crunch for rhythm or 80's hair sounds, and finally distortion for harder stuff with boost for solo's (if necessary)! There is no doubt this pedal is worth every cent compared to the cost of a Marshall (not the pitiful MGs). Vintage chicken head knobs are easy to use, solid switching, bright blue led's. Oh, one more thing - this is the closest to a Marshall tone I've ever heard out of a pedal. The only thing that would tempt me to sell it would be the new CM Quattro multi-pedal, but then I'd lose the boost.
