A simple stripped down version of the Pro Series Plexitone.

The new `single channel` Carl Martin PlexiTone was designed in association with Pete Thorn, and is housed in a small pedal-board friendly housing with 3 knobs and 1 switch. Apart from Pete's slight modifications that give this new pedal a tighter bottom-end and slightly softer high frequencies, it is exactly the same gain structure as the High Gain setting on the original Pro-Series PlexiTone. It just plays better with different amps. The single Plexi also incorporates the new DC-DC converter circuitry, so the pedal can be powered by a regulated 9V Power Supply but will still operate on the same +-12V level as the original AC powered PlexiTone. This allows Carl Martin to use the same high quality components which provide the same tone and headroom that make the CM Pro-Series stand out from the rest!

  • One of the best Plexi-in-a-box pedals around

As reviewed by Billy Galloway on 1/22/2014

For about the last year or so, I've been on the same quest that A LOT of guitar players nowadays are stuck on as well: finding an inexpensive way to get a vintage Marshall tone without actually having to buy a Plexi or a JMP. After spending countless hours narrowing down my options, I came to this little gold box, and I'm happy I found it. It is gritty, open, and very responsive. With the drive at almost as low it can go, you get the sound of a Marshall just starting to break up. Drive all the way up and you get loads of saturation, compression, and all of the classic dimed Plexi qualities. The only pedal that gives it any competition in my opinion is the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret. To me the Catalinbread gets just a straight up stock Super Lead/Super Bass tone, while the Plexitone is more of a hot rodded mid 70s Plexi/JMP sound. Both are great and I would take the DLS anyday, but the Plexitone is the better of the two for my style.

  • This Pedal Screams

As reviewed by Jeffey Hamilton on 4/23/2014

This pedal absolutey screams. Sustain is endless, even when I am using my back up guitar and 15 watt practice amp. I don't even need to pick the string. I just lay my left hand on the strings and it starts to howl and ring out. I use a TS808 in my rig also for more subtle, vintage overdrive but if I want big, fat, saturated, overdrive tones, I hit the plexitone. Sustain and feedback is out of this world, but still warm and toneful.
