Good Product

By Rod

Comments about Cannon Percussion Gladstone Practice Pad:

The pad is high quality and works well. The only issue was when I first pulled it out of the package, it had a very strong chemical odor. I left it outside in the sun for a couple days and let it vent. There has not been a noticeable odor since.

Still working after all these years

By Larry Mersereau _

Comments about Cannon Percussion Gladstone Practice Pad:

I just bought one of these to work on hand speed without making a lot of noise. It's pretty much the same practice pad I had in high school...over 40 years ago. It still does the same thing. No reason to spend more. Bounce response is similar to a drum head, so practice translates well to playing. Sit it on top of your snare drum, or put a music stand down flat and sit it on top of that. Or a table top. Or a coffee table...you get the idea: any flat surface that't the right height for you.

Comments about Cannon Percussion Gladstone Practice Pad:

Jazz, meaning it's what I chose to play. I'm a schooled player and have an original Billy Gladstone snare drum pad purchased when it first came out years ago. It's fantastic, great feel and indistructable. Here's how I use mine: I cut a circular 14" x 3/4" from some high quality plywood and proceeded to cover it with rubber from a larger truck tire, about 3 ply, using roofing nails around the perimeter, streaching across tightly beforehand. That gets rid of the woody sound and is a great base for the pad to be used on a snare drum stand.(wood alone, optional too). With the snare drum played fairly flat the wood together with the overlay of rubber actually rests on the 14" snare drum rim giving it more resilience and pleasing sensitive snare sound. Try it with pencil sticks too,if you have technique, it's beautiful. I'm originally from Binghamton, N.Y. 72 and still kicken with some good players.
