Though this Cakewalk software collection is a reissue of Proteus sample content, it's not just a rehash of the same old libraries. Founder Timothy Swartz who produced the original sound sets for use in E-MU Systems' hardware products has now updated them for optimal use with the advanced parameters of Cakewalk's Dimension without losing their original tunings. This means Dimension users will now have 3,500 immediately usable sounds, from pop rock instruments (Proteus 2000) to symphonic orchestra (Virtuoso 2000), urban (Mo'Phatt) to electronic (Xtreme Lead-1), world percussion (Planet Earth) to traditional acoustic drumkits (PX-7) at their disposal. And these aren't just any sounds. Many have been used in film and television scores, including the famous "X-Files" whistle. The list of musicians who have included Proteus samples in their repertoire is a veritable who's who of Grammy Award winners: Peter Gabriel. Prince. Trent Reznor. Phil Collins. The Bee Gees. Janet Jackson.
