Comments about Chauvet LED Followspot 120ST:
The followspot lighting itself is amazing. The power is like a 1000 watt older version. It has a warm button that makes skin look good. Colors are great. dimming is good.
BUT, this company saved a few dollars by cheapening things that didn't need to ruin a great thing.
The stand is totally useless compared to any other stand I have used. It is cheap and short. If your sitting at the back of an audience on the same level you can't go over peoples heads. I got past that and used my old stand which works fine.
My biggest issue is the knobs on each side of the U frame that tightens the tilt of the spot. One was loose and after a few uses it fell out. I took the spotlight apart to find there was no stationary nut inside to help adjust the tilt. The right side was fine and still worked so I had to use ducktape to keep it together otherwise the left side would come apart. Then the right side rivets gave away so I had to really tighen over hard to get it to stay in one place. I can see these will be an issue with a lot of people. The company could have spent another few dollars and made this unit better. I'm sending mine back to get a new one but I'm worried It will end up the same. Cheap is cheap.
I can't find another unit that does the same job so I took it upon myself to install my own nut on the left side with a locknut to keep it tighter (but not tight enough to keep it in place). While I was there I replaced the 3 rivets that held the swivel piece onto the followspot body. These ones were getting loose.
Now on the right side the rivets had already fallen out causing the unit to barely set the level of the followspot. I replaced those 3 rivets also with better ones. If they used steel ones that issue wouldn't have happened.
Now I think the unit is usable.
