purchased 2 of these for our band hoping to spice the stage show up a little..they did that for sure. Very bright ...Use the gels that come with them to tame them down a bit. The only neg. thing I can say about these is to make sure you run them on its own circuit . You will be tripping breakers in the middle of a show if you dnt.
I ordered this light not really knowing what to expect because my local GC didn't have any of the larger strobe lights in the store. I bought it with a cheep Chauvet strobe controller which was a mistake because the Mega Strobe only runs via dmx. I needed the light for a show that night so after some fiddling we came to find out the Obey 3 works to control it (even though it is not intended to). Anyways, once I got the controller plugged in I looked into the light to see if it would work and it definitely did. I looked at it from probably 5 feet away and was seeing spots for at least 10 minutes. I brought the light to the show that evening and used it a room with a 120 person capacity for most of the night. It is definitely bright enough to hold its own in a room that size. Towards the end of the night I used it on the main stage in a room with a capacity of something like 1000 people. It was used in conjunction with another Mega Strobe. Between the two of them they were bright enough to be effective in the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the room. **Use caution when rigging this into your setup. It will need its own 15amp outlet (a full wall outlet) or it will trigger the internal breaker thats built into it** I give it 4 stars because theres really no sound active mode that is worth anything, and you can't use the cheep $25 Chauvet controller to run it, you are supposed to get something like the Obey 10 or something similar. You can however Jimmy rig it with the Obey 3 if you set the 1st and 10th dipswitch on the light up and have the rest down, then put the Obey 3 in manual RGB. You then use the first 2 faders on the Obey 3 to control the light. When fader 2 is all the way down and fader 1 is up, you will trigger the blinder effect; when fader 2 is up any amount then fader 1 controls the strobe speed.
