The DMX-605A Intimidator 2.0 is a great pick for who is looking for great price over a very good light effects. I have 2 of this in my home party room, and looks great. Beams are nice and bright, definetly keeps everyone on the dancefloor entertained with all the diferent colors and shapes.
These are the most impressive DMX Scanners I have yet used in their price range. Nothing else begins to compare. I actually prefer these over the Martin SCX500 units which are twice as expensive. Gobo/color changes are lightning fast, as is the mirror movement. Their automatic sound-response programs are amazing - the variety astounding. They move to the music so well that you could swear there are pixies inside pulling the levers. The colors are rich and there are plenty of them. The two glass gobos are an impressive bonus. The only thing they are lacking is rotating gobos, electronic dimming, and the convenience of pre-programmed DMX macros. These are sturdy, extremely impressive fixtures that will dazzle and delight. Skip the 1.0's and 1.2's and go straight to the 2.0's if you are in the market. They are blinding with the included ELC3 lamps, but throw in some ECL10 lamps such as Philips Broadway for increased clarity and even more retinal burn. No regrets.
I am a lighting designer in Michigan. We are currently on tour with 4 of these, 4 insignia barrel scans, and a mx1 and mx4. They are very smooth, very vibrant too. I would recommend this light to any DJ or small touring company.
