I went into a GC store and told them what was happening with my Line6 Valve Mk1 amp: scratchy, unpredictable, jumping volume all over the place. With a small touch of the Master or Channel volume knob my sound would go from bedroom quiet to ears bleeding. It turns out these amps have some pretty low-quality pots, and they're prone to buildup. Even their demo model in store had the same problem! The staff recommended this stuff, and I was a little skeptical, thinking there was a bigger problem with the amp internally. Still, for the price, I figured if it didn't work I was only out $14. I followed the instructions on the can. No more scratchy, jumping volume. My amp was cured! I'll probably do this regiment every month or so with this amp just to make sure it stays in good shape. I'll probably use the stuff on any future amp I own too!
This stuff rocks the world. I have a killer 100 watt stereo amp that I bought for only 14.00 at a thrift store. Problem was....it only had one channel. wiggling the balance got me some static....so out comes the De-oxit and whamo.....stereo. I sprayed a couple times and worked the knob back and forth. Listening to pure rich and clean stereo for months now with even a crackle. Love this stuff...great price GC...thanks.
I recently purchased a 1988 Boss DS-2 pedal off of Craigslist. I didn't have an opportunity to test it out before I bought the pedal, so I took a bit of a risk, especially since the sell said it hadn't been used in a couple years. The pedal sounds great, but the pots were all scratchy. A couple short sprays of this stuff in each pot completely removed all scratchiness. The price may seem a little high for a fairly small can, but I can tell you that one can will probably work for a couple hundred pots.
I was thinking about getting a new amp because I was looking for something a little better and my current one just felt old. This was due in large part to the scratchy pots and the cracks and crackles I would hear. I decided to try this to see if I could get rid of those noises before going out and spending the cash on a new amp. I sprayed a little bit of the DeoxIT into a small opening on the back of the pots, and turned them back and forth a few times. Unfortunately the pot that was the most scratchy was totally enclosed. My only choice was to spray the DeoxIT onto the shaft of that pot and hope it would work its way inside (I put a rag over the pot and the tip of the red sprayer tube to keep the stuff from flying back in my face or going everywhere). To my surprise, all of the pots (even the enclosed one) are moving smoothly now with no noise whatsoever. I also cleaned the input and output jacks both inside and out. The amp not only sounds better, it looks better as well, with all of the jacks nice and shiny again. Playing this amp is so much more enjoyable. Now I have some more time to save up for that amp I really want! By the way, I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because it's hard to keep the DeoxIT from spraying back at you when shooting it into a small area, even at the lowest spray setting.
I fix absolutely everything with this stuff... Im a Musician of 20+ years... and the goto guy when everyone needs something fixed... I am not exaggerating a bit by saying this stuff fixes 80% of all electrical problems with your gear... I remove stickers and gunk when i restore guitars without harming paint or plastic... the only problem I have faced with this incredibly spray is, I clean every control pot when I'm restoring something, every once in a while customers and band mates complain about the Volume Knob turns TOO easy, and Bumping it slightly, sometimes it keeps turning it self down...
I had some noisy pots on a Johnson millennium amp that were so bad I could hardly play it.A few shots of this and the fader lube on the pots and they work like new. A little goes a long way.Very good stuff.
DeOxit is the bomb! I have used several different Contact cleaners, and none come close to this product. Thanks for the great price!
This product lives up to its claims and more. I've tried just about all the "snake oils" out there and this product (and the DeoxIT GOLD) never seems to amaze me. It has solved just about all my connection issues unless it is a construction/damage issue. I even found and tried their Deoxit Axewipes for strings - another great product, I can actually hear the difference. Great product, keep up the good work CAIG.
