These mics are great for recording. I havnt used them live yet but im sure that it would work out. And for recording, all u have to use on the drums are the 2 tom mics, the kick and the snare and it will sound great. Because of that, you can use the other 2 mics for other intruments such as acoustics,guitar/bass amps, piano, and vocals. It has a great price. I had some shure mics that did not do as good as these. CAD all the way! Buy it.

A great example of very inexpensive Chinese made musical instruments flooding the pro audio market these days, Built to be "pre-eq'd" for the drums and mission accomplished to a small degree. Kick drum mic can be made to sound ok with a huge dip at about 200hz, a large bump up at about 80 hz and a rounded bump up at about 5khz. All frequencies that the more expensive kick mics already have in place. The plus is that the kick mic will reproduce below 100hz. The snare mic needs to be added to at 6k and the toms added to at about 100 hz. The interesting this about this mic collection is that when listened to as a group, the overheads add snap and presence that causes the whole kit to sound ok. With a dip in the kick at 200hz, the overall picture actually sounds decent but the overheads must be there to create the entire image. If you want mics that sound better individually, you will need to invest a bit more. I would not recommend to a commercially competitive studio but would to a startup who is willing to follow the above guidelines. Marked as recommended but primarily as a price mark for semi pro application.

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

Other reviewers had suggested these mics would work for more than just drums. When my set arrived, I tested all the mics - all worked great. The condenser mics are really hot!! Used two of the tom mics for guitar and vocals in my home studio - the barrels fit great into standard mic holders. My test recording came out just fine - sounded as good as the mics I normally use for these purposes. A couple days later I had the opportunity to record a full band in a live situation. Used the bass drum mic as intended, used one of the tom mics for a full drum set overhead mic, used the other two tom mics for guitar amps. When I pulled all this into the computer for mixdown, I was pleased to see the mics had performed in a live situation just as they had in my home studio - capturing all the intended audio. This mic set is compact and easy to use. I've been doing this kind of stuff since the 70s and I can say that these mics will be in my kit from now on.

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

I have had these mics for over 10 years and it's crazy how they have held up, the case is still in great shape and I actually have everything to the kit which is a surprise for someone like me
These are not the best sounding nice but I think well worth the money for anyone who wants to get into recording and is on a budget

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

Good, inexpensive set of drum mics. Can't beat them for the price, obviously not going to compare in sound or build quality to mics that cost several times as much. Great to have in the "gig kit" as a backup, don't take up much room and can be used to mic your instrument cab in a pinch.

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

I operate a professional studio with many high quality drum mics at my disposal. However, I recently put together a small sound system for small live events and wanted a compact, inexpensive drum mic kit to go with it. I was not expecting much from these - just wanted them to provide simple reinforcement with my live rig.

When I received the set, I tried each mic out in my studio compared to my preferred, much more expensive drum mics. Will these replace those? No. Do they sound/perform well above their price? Yes!

SN210 Snare Mic: My favorite of the pack. It has a nice, present sound, good crack from the snare, thick, fat bottom end punch, similar off-axis rejection to an SM57 and the off-axis sound is good - not honky like many other mics. This is the 1 mic of the pack I might actually use on a professional recording when I want something different from my norm.

TM211 Tom Mics: Slightly scooped mids, balanced low end, bright top end. These sound pre-EQed for toms, which is good. Their off-axis rejection is not as good as say, an Audix D2/D4, but they have more high end/stick attack than said mics, so you won't need to EQ any attack to them if the drum sounds good. Floor rooms might need a little low end boost, which is not an issue.

KM212 Kick Mic: Tight, punchy sound with good attack, a full sound with good thump, but lacks deep low end. Would make a good mic inside the kick if you use an outside mic for more deep lows and oomph. Otherwise, you'll likely boost some EQ in the 40Hz-60Hz range to fill out the bottom if you use it alone.

CM217 Condensers: The only mics in the kit I consider unusable for professional quality, but they perform on par with any other SDC in their price range. They suffer the typical smeared transients and hashy sound of cheap condensers, but will do the job and I will use them for my intended purpose (small, live sound). You need to spend a lot more than this whole kit costs for a GOOD pair of SDCs, so these are fine for the money.

If you are looking for a drum mic set at this price point, you are probably working out of your home studio or looking for a few extra mics to add to your arsenal that can come in handy in random situations. If that is you, get this kit! You will be surprised at how great they sound for this price. A little EQ and you're good to go! Perfect kit for someone starting out recording drums, or a band putting together their own recordings. You can't be disappointed at this price.

Sound solid on hand percussion. I have 2 tom mics on bongos, the snare mic on a bodhran and get a surprisingly full sound from that. I haven't used the overheads yet.
