Overview

This is a really well-designed special deal. If there is any single microphone category in which it is likely that you will be buying two of them, it is in the category of overhead condensers. Designed for drum overheads, the CAD CM217 solves your cymbal capture at a fantastic price.

In order to get a clear picture of your drummer's cymbal blends, you need two overhead condensers. The CM217 is equipped with a high-pass filter to avoid rumble and an attenuator to accommodate drummers of varying heavy-handedness. Mic clips included.

The CM217 is additionally good for acoustic guitars, string instruments, cymbals, hi-hats, and more. A great way to record acoustic guitar is to use one CM217 aimed at the lower bout and another aimed toward the neck. You get a lovely mix of attack and body that is adjustable in the mix.

Great Little Find

By Andy

from Portland, Oregon

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

I'm still unsure why people haven't been talking about these mics. It may be the price that sets people off, but folks do not be alarmed. CAD has made something worthwhile for us to enjoy, and Guitar Center has hooked us up with a great deal. These mics are hot, and they are clear. I use them for drum overheards, acoustic guitars, and for area mics on choirs. They pick up anything in the area and everything comes out clearly. trust the review, these mics will get any job done.

Great Drum Overheads

By Josh Scott

from Greensboro NC

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

These mics work very well for the price. At first I was skeptical of buying them because of mixed reviews that I have read, but I needed some drum overheads to go along with the Digital Reference 4 pc drum mic kit (another 5 stars for that, by the way). I became a bit more skeptical when the mics came in boxes not much larger than a deck of cards. The clips even weighed more than the mics! But once I plugged them up, adjusted the levels, and turned the built in -10 DB switch on, they worked like a charm. My cymbals are so clear. I've even recorded some tracks with my friends and these mics mix my cymbals very well. If you're looking for good quality for a small price, these are the mics for you. My only thing about them is they pick up a lot of my snare drum, but for a price this low for a pair of condenser mics I won't complain.

Great value

By Kevin Jaskowick

from Warren, Ohio

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

I bought these mics because for thirty bucks apiece, if they sucked I could throw them at the neighbor's dog. They don't suck. I used them the first time at a gig in a rather small bar. I decided to put one CAD on each side of the drums and mic the bass drum (AKG D112). SoundguyEd brought up the drums in the mains and wow. I had someone else play for me and I was amazed that the sound coming out of the speakers was exactly what hear when I'm playing. The soundguy had to back off the AKG a little bit because the CAD's were putting the kick out there too. I would easily recommend these mics to anyone looking for good sound on a budget. I don't know about reliability yet, haven't had them that long. Happy right now.

good microphones

By FRANK BURKHARDT JR

from Antioch CA

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

These CAD CM217's were the very first professional mic's i bought. I bought them to start my home studio and for the use of over heads to a drums set. As soon as i turned that phantom power on and could hear myself talk from 20 feet away i was amazed. You think because there tiny there not worth it, bu im telling you there really good for the price you pay. You especially cant beat the two for one deal.

Great budget mics

By Erik

from Arlington, Tx

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

I got these mics as part of the larger CAD and they were the only part worth keeping. I have used them extensively as cymbal overheads and for acoustic instruments. the amount of off axis rejection even makes them suitable for live sound. A great buy for budget condensers!

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

I'm pretty happy with these. I'm a newbie in recording, but I think they do the job for recording the drums. Essentially I'm replicating the Sabian SoundKit with the additional functions of ProTools since I record directly into my Mac.

Really good value

By Kenneth Burg

from Clovis, CA

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

I got these to augment my home recording studio, primarily for drum overheads like mentioned by others. They work really well, especially if you're on a budget. Nice sound in a itsy-bitsy package. I think i might buy a couple more if the 2 for 1 deal is still on!

Great deal

By Curtis Boggs

from virginia beach, va

Comments about CAD CM217 Condenser Mic - Buy Two and Save:

I'm surprised, . for this price I thought these Mics would be junk, but actually they aren't bad at all. I wouldn't compare them to Ockiva or any higher end mic, . however they do a good job. I'm using them to record drums, use one on HH and one on the ride to help them cut in the mix.
