The CAD KBM412 Bass & Kick Drum Microphone is specifically designed for bass drums. Large diaphragm element offers extended low-frequency response down to 25Hz and high SPL handling. Rugged die-cast body with hardened external screen. Performs extremely well with large toms and bass guitar amps.
This is the 2nd one of these CAD KBM412 microphones I have purchased. They are great! Fast transistent response and "deep". They have more "attack" like a flat condensor but the "fatness" of a dynamic microphone. They are not as sensitive as some "kick drum" microphones and thus work well with consoles that do not have a "pad" on the input.
Just got this mic for my big ole kick drum, and I'm quite happy with it. Takes a good thumping, and captures a good kick sound. I'm new the this recording thing, I was looking for an inexpensive kick drum mic, so I grabbed this. I'm aware that there are more expensive kick drum mics out there, and some day I'll evolve. But, I'm on a budget, and this will do fine. I'll try it on my bass cab and go from there. I'd recommend it for those budget recordists out there.
