Makes mic placement much easier.

The DSM-1 microphone mount from CAD is a heavy, die-cast drum mic mount with a slick, locking cam. Attaches securely to any standard drum, yet removes easily. Thick rubber pads protect the drum finish, while a neoprene-surround insert (threaded for standard mic clips) offers additional shock isolation. • Very attractive Mic mount

    As reviewed by Gr8 S. on 2/15/2008

These are very cool looking mic mounts. Be sure you have about 1" of lug screw showing between the rim and the screw holder. These only fit on my floor toms, but that's because of my special Yamaha lug mounts that don't expose enough lug screw on the smaller drums. These actually attach to the lug screw and once adjusted look and work great. Very nice professional "Heavy duty" look. They can't be put on and removed as easily as you might think, but once it's on and adjusted, it great. It's not hard to do, it's just not as easy as it looks.

  • It's Alright

As reviewed by Jurelle Olivarez on 12/17/2010

If you do not have at least 1/2" of tension rod showing on your drum this mic mount will not mount on your drum. I bought this mic mount in mind of reducing mic stand clutter especially at my snare and for that I give it two thumbs up. On the downside, the rectangular piece of rubber (lower right side of the piece in the picture above) fell clean off making the lousy thing falling off and hitting my snare, good thing my snare is plastic (acrylic), I would hate to see it nail a wooden snare with a SM57 on it, which is a fairly heavy mic. I just have to glue it back on. But it happened right out of the packing, pretty pathetic (Thus the 3 star rating). The round rubber piece is used to tighten the mount up against the snare body kind of just edges off to the side and the mount kind of slouches. I don't like it, but if you mess with it enough you can get it just right. O! and for long mics this mount is that great unless you have a mic clip that lets you push it up towards the thicker part of the shaft towards the grill. The tall metal piece where the threading is isn't tall enough for an SM57. I think they made this mount with low profile mics in mind (like their CAD 4-7 piece). It would work GREAT with the little digital reference mics. Buyer Beware though, it's kind of clunky and obscure in its own way and can be difficult to mount. And the ruber pieces are just glued on and are susceptible to falling off.
