I purchased a Bullet coil instrument cable about 4 years ago as it is similar to the Whirlwind coil cable that I bought in the mid 70's. Unfortunately the 1/4" connectors are not of the greatest quality, this caused early failure (not at a gig). I have repaired the connections once and it recently failed again. I have not checked it yet to see if it is a solder connection or if one of the 1/4" connectors has failed. With due respect I did have to repair the Whirlwind once or twice, but I still use the old workhorse. Hopefully the coil cable itself is not to blame for the last failure as I can always use a higher quality connector. The bullet casing connector ends look very very cool, too bad they are not real quality connectors.
I've always had a problem with stepping on cords as I'm playing or twisting them into loops as I walk to and from my amp to tweak the settings, so I started looking into getting a coiled cable to keep things away from my feet. Plus, I play bass, so I high-end loss wouldn't be an issue. If you're worried about it, the frequency response is detailed on the back of the packaging, and from what I remember frequencies don't start attenuating until around 10kHz. Guitar harmonics don't really extend past that mark. Anyway, the cable sounds fantastic and looks cool to boot. It feels solid, heavy with big loose coils that are probably close to an inch in diameter. Those loose coils give it LOTS of room to stretch. I have walked at least 15ft away from my amp with it and still had slack to spare. To put that in perspective, my first cable ever was a coiled 20 footer from Radio Shack. You couldn't travel 6ft with it. So, if you play small gigs in tighter spaces like I do or plug into a pedalboard, you might want to consider the smaller one if you want something that will suspend off the floor. If you do opt for this one though, the coils are big enough to brush against your feet and warn you before you step on it :-).
Absolutely love this product! I play all types of music, though my favorite is metal, ranging everywhere in that genre. This cable covers it all! One of the biggest problem I had trying to play at high distortion was the huge buzz and fuzz I would get in the background after every chord or note, forcing me to crank down the volume and gain on almost everything. This greatly fixes that problem with its full insulation and quality parts like its 24k gold connectors and oxygen-free copper wiring. Another big problem I had in general in the past was my cables tangling by just moving around with my guitar. This cable's coiled design does its job and helps me avoid that problem, leaving me free to go crazy as I see fit. It's 1000x better than what the Ibanez cables at my local shop could even dream of. It's definitely worth the money, for a much better sounding guitar and rig. I would recommend this to anyone, so here's my recommendation to you: GO GET ONE... NOW!!!
This cable is amazing. Freedom of movement, coil stays out of the way, solid bullet construction, and looks fantastic. The only problem is, I still suck at playing guitar.
This is the single best cable i've ever owned. A lot of other cheaper cables I've bought eventually stop working over time not so with this one.I also plan on using this cable for recording soon since it reduces all the noise from my amp.
I think this cable is going to last longer than me. Absolute fantastic quality. It looks like it's military grade. Quiet and free of interference, even with single coil pick ups. I strongly recommend this product.
This is a pretty heavy duty cable. The cable ends are just really cool, and good quality to go with it. I got the red to go with my cherry Gibson SG bass. I play in a tight spot @ my church, so the coiled cable really keeps excess cable out from under my feet. But the cord does allow you to stretch it out a bit if you need to. I think this cable will hold up pretty well. I was using a Monster Cable, now it's this one. I wish I had bought one sooner. Get it, use it, and you won't regret getting it.
This is the cable I have looked for since the 60's. It is strong enough to take a beating on stage and stays out of my way. If you are tired of tripping over cables or stepping on them and breaking them then this is the cable for you.
