Overview

The Bugera V55 tube guitar amp captures the musicality of amps from the 1960s that to this day, remain the guitarist's choice for their ability to respond very dynamically to each players' nuances. Bugera's stunning 1x12 combo boasts modern touches that put an even wider palette of vintage voicings at your fingertips.

Bugera went to great lengths to give the V55 tube amp the ability to deliver everything those dusty relics of the rock revolution did-minus the collector-sized pricetags. But in true Bugera fashion this labor of love was taken one step farther to give you maximum tonal possibilities. To explain, let's take a quick detour to the late 1940s.

Before hillbillies began co-opting the blues, amps came in two varieties: those with triode (having three active electrodes) power valves and those with pentode (containing five active electrodes) power valves. Triode valves, which predated the pentodes, provide what many guitarists agree is a "softer" tone. Pentodes produce a slightly more urgent, aggressive sound. This Bugera amp runs on power pentode tubes, but include a Mode switch that lets you run the power section as if it had triode tubes-that is, at about 40 percent less power. This gives you the option of going beyond old-school-straight to elderly school.

The old amps that defined electric guitar tone were often single-channel amps. These amplifiers offer that same vintage clean, but add a second channel for modern high-gain tones. To begin, take your pick of the Bright or Normal inputs, then twist the three-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble) and Presence control to sculpt your signature sound. Depending on which channel you choose, three 12AX7 preamp tubes take your tone anywhere from dignified blues to garage-leveling madness.

The Bugera V55's power stage's dual 6L6 valves propel this tone through a Bugera 12" speaker. Need to feed more speakers? Both guitar amps have an Impedance switch that toggles between 4, 8 and 16 Ohms, making them compatible with virtually any speaker cabinet. These amps also have reverb, but in the interest of tone and durability, their reverb is derived from a studio-caliber digital processor. The spring reverb found in their post-war predecessors sound lovely, but they're delicate and expensive to repair. The Bugera V55's modern update gives you an equally mesmerizing vintage reverb sound without the wallet-draining vintage reliability. And if all these features weren't enough-you also get a road-tough footswitch that allows you to select channels and activate or kill the reverb remotely. So whether you're in the studio, rehearsing in the garage or pulling into Champagne-Urbana for a gig that pays two pitchers, the V55 tube guitar amp is able to complement your craft with the gold-standard tones of the past today.

Awesome Amp!

By JOHN HILA

from NJ USA

I wanted to get this amp after picking up the V5 for in home recording and practicing. I sold my Fender 100 watt Frontman and bought the Bugera V55. Very nice amp to work with. Great classic tube sound with lots of tonal options. Where else are you going to get triode / pentode switching, midrange boost, 2 channels with a master volume and great reverb for this price? Sound is somewhere between Marshall and Fender. Distinct, but very nice quality sound that will run with either. Sound quality is great, clear is sparkling clear, gain goes from bluesy to metal. Mine came with the newer Turbosound speaker instead of the Bugera Vintage speaker, but no issue with sound quality at all. Chassis is very sturdy and solid, a bit heavy but not hard to carry. Perfect for practices and small gigs. The newer model, called Infinium will have onboard tube bias balancing which is nice, but if you can get your hands on this amp you will not be disappointed. For this price it the far and away champ.

Great amp!

By JOHN HILA

from Keyport NJ

I am an amateur player who has had many amps over the years. I decided I would try a tube amp for my next amp and began the research. For the money, you can not beat the Bugera V55. The sound quality, the features you simply were not offered by other manufacturers in this price range. The V55 has variable output impedence, included footswitch, very responsive reverb, and truly impressive sound. Very solid box, but not too heavy. Dials are simple, reliable and allow you to find your sound without spending too much time tweaking. Sound is somewhere between a Marshall and a Fender. With the 2 channel, you can get mind blowing metal, super clean jazz, or anything in between. I go for a slightly overdriven sound, and the V55 nails it for me. No buzzing, no static, solidly built. Test one Bugers out and you will be very impressed. I use the V5 for home practice and the V55 for band work, and both are very reliable and solid. When you can see and feel a company puts the same care and quality in their 5 watts as their 55 watts you know they are company that is driven to be the best. Bugera is a company I am impressed with on these and will use for a long time. They are a part of Behringer, whose products I have already been using for some time. Great mixers and stompboxes. Test drive a Bugera and see for yourself great hand wired amps are affordable.

Great amp for an amazing price

By Justin McCoy

from Prosper TX

If you are a cash strapped musician who is looking for a clean, tube sound then this is perfect for you. It has a phenomenal tone and clarity that makes me smile whenever I play. It is simple and does that one thing wonderfully. Sadly for most other guitarists, it really doesn't do anything else though (or at least not very well). The gain channel is fine as long as you don't plan on using it. While the clean channel has beautiful depth and character, the gain channel is honestly very lacking in those areas. This results in a perfectly fine gain channel for someone who prefers a clean sound but wants to play something heavy every once in a while for fun. Just listen to videos of it being played on youtube if your skeptical. If you fall in love with the sound once you hear it, buy it. If your still not convinced after hearing your fill of demos, then your either a metal head or incredibly nit-picky with your sound and hopefully have a large wallet.

Very Good Amp...

By Mr1515

from N.Charleston, SC

Very good amp well beyond the price... I've played Fender,Line 6 and Kustom and this amp is on par with the fender and superior to the others, the clean is clear with great tone, and it is loud!!! the distortion is OK not great but nothing a good pedal can't cure, overall this amp is second to none, again well beyond the price.

great amp

By R. Perez

from Hebbronville, Texas

I am not a great guitar player but have had my share of solid state amps and always wanted a tube amp, and for the price I couldn't pass this amp up, I've had it about 5 weeks now and use it every day after work, the sounds that this amp puts out is astounding haven't gone past the 2 o'clock on the volume and it rattles things on the wall (its Loud), it look is a vintage look and that just makes it attractive, a plus in my book, the price well thats a bigger plus. get one it won't disappoint you.
