Comments about Breedlove Stage Dreadnought 2014 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm a Martin guy, and the only experience I've had with Breedloves before this guitar were cheaper models with laminate bodies. I wasn't expecting much, but I saw the solid rosewood back and affordable price, and had to at least give it a shot. WOW!

The sides may be laminate -- but out of all the pieces of wood in the body they make the least difference. You get the feel and sound of real rosewood when you play this guitar. I've played Martins which are rich and bassy. I've played Taylors which are mid-heavy and have clear highs. While I do love that Martin dreadnought tone, I have to say this guitar is more balanced than either the Martin dreads or Taylor 14 bodies I've played. It might be the most balanced guitar I've owned.

The setup on mine was perfect and it stays in tune very well. It's enjoyable to play and I don't want to put it down. Since I bought it, it has become my main at-home guitar. It's a good backup for stage use as well -- the pickup is about average as most acoustic-electric guitars tend to underwhelm when it comes to plugged-in tone. The only reason it's relegated to backup status is that my Martin has an Aura system in it, which is truly exceptional.

One other thing I have to mention is volume. This thing is a CANNON! You can do a lot with dynamics without having to make the beginner mistake of overplaying to get more volume.

Also, it's beautiful. The abalone around the sound hole and entire body, the binding around the entire fretboard -- those are features you'd pay a premium for with a lot of brands. Like I said, you're getting a LOT for your money here. As far as guitars in this price range go, I put this one right up there with any Martin or Taylor you could compare it to. Highly recommended!

Comments about Breedlove Stage Dreadnought 2014 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I would recommend this guitar to anyone who loves acoustic guitars. The cutaway seems easier to dig into than others. The sound compares to just about any Martin out there. For paying just under $1100 this thing rocks. Any style, any level, you gotta try this thing.

Comments about Breedlove Stage Dreadnought 2014 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar has a beautiful, sometimes haunting distant tone, depending on whether it is finger picked, or strummed with a flat pick. The deeper mellow tones are probably the result of the Indian Rosewood, a softer wood than say a harder Mohagany that resonates with crisper highs, like my old Gibson J-50 from 1963. Therefore, this guitar is less "tinny" and jarring. It's piano-like sounds make it perfect for the stage worship venue, if miked, or it can be amp connected and the sound shaped through the LR-TVC preamp somewhat to control what the house hears. It's ribbon transducer under the bridge produces a sound typical of most other transducers, and this has a bit more of that "electric" sound, minus some of the nuances the acoustic and rosewood construction produce. New strings and you can get some really nice harmonics. The rock-solid tuner mechs never slip, and unless temperatures are changing, the thing will hold its tuning for weeks. The case provided is a firm padded gig-bag, big pockets for cables and such.

Generally, I have been very happy with this jewel, though I have had to lower the string action slightly by sanding the bottom of the bridge incrementally, reinstalling and hoping no fret buzz appears. I now have it where it is very comfortable to play, and I play it at least three times weekly for about two hours in each session, as part of my participation in a church worship band.

The abalone around the exterior front edges, as well as the rosette, is a very nice feature found in the 2014. That Breedlove discontinued the abalone on the exterior edges, going to an inked "grain" or rope-like design in newer models isn't, in my opinion, as pretty a design. Maybe they will hear this and bring it back. Nonetheless, the guitar is beautiful, and sounds nice when amplified. Breedlove seemed easy enough to work with online also, as when I ordered a backup bridge and nut, since I intend to use this guitar often and for many years to come.

    A great guitar

Comments about Breedlove Stage Dreadnought 2014 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was shopping for a martin guitar but for the sound I wanted I ciuld not afford it. When I picked this breedlove up and started to play it, I fell in love with the sound and the feel, not to mention it is pretty nice to look at too. Breedlove did an amazing job on quality combined with sound and at this price I was in shock. I use this guitar to lead worship music at my church and it it GREAT!!
