Delivers a warm, musical tone both acoustically and plugged in, built on the bass resonance of ebony and the power of red spruce. The Pursuit Dreadnought Ebony is a true reflection of Breedlove’s distinctively crafted sound found in an exceptional appointment package. Includes built-in USB port for easy interfacing with recording software.

Body Shape
Breedlove set out to enhance the traditional dreadnought sound, and the results are evident. If you’re inspired by the familiarity of a dread, but are looking for more nuance and richness than usual, the Breedlove Dreadnought delivers. The shape is slightly more rounded than traditional dreadnoughts and produces beautifully full, punchy, and articulate tones. It also provides excellent projection and articulation, so it excels in any ensemble. The hand-graduated top provides the balance and clarity that make this one of the most innovative and expressive-sounding dreadnoughts on the market.

Breedlove Pinless Bridge
The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, you’ll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.

Breedlove Neck
Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.

Set Up and Quality Assurance in Bend, Oregon
The comprehensive quality control process provides the player with an instrument that will play perfectly right out of the box. Prior to shipment, every Breedlove instrument undergoes a rigorous 25-to-30-point inspection in Bend, Oregon by their expert U.S. quality control team. They start with a visual inspection: checking aesthetic and structural elements of the body and components for flaws. Next, each guitar is tuned and undergoes a play test, where our craftspeople check nut height, relief, action and string height. Based on the results of the play test, they are adjusted for maximum playability. Finally, each instrument is buffed and polished by hand with painstaking attention to detail. Once the instrument has passed inspection, a signed QC sticker is placed, and the instrument is carefully packed and shipped.

Limited Lifetime Warranty
Breedlove players around the world can attest: With consistent, proper care, your Breedlove will give you a lifetime of service – and inspiration. New Breedlove instruments are warrantied to be free of defects in materials and workmanship throughout the lifetime of the original owner. In addition to materials and workmanship, Breedlove offers a two-year warranty on tuning machines and electronics packages.

poor workman ship - poor design (made in China)

By Alex

from Vancouver, BC

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a nightmare. The sound of this guitar is bright at first and intriguing, but beware. The neck adjustment is poor if not functional at all. The adjustment wench supplied is the wrong size. Since there is no adjustment on the neck the stings sound dull and it has low sustain. The action of the guitar is low which makes the strings buzz. The accuracy of the pitch is terrible - especially on the 1st and 2nd fret. On the top of the tuning head the d and a string are touching the wood. The top wood is more like plywood and it has a knocking tone after noise when the stings are strum hard. Please do not buy this guitar - you save yourself a lot of aggravation.

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar was purchased my older woman experience player looking for less tension for arthritic hands.
The nut was not cut correctly from the factory. String height was all over. After cutting the nut properly this is a great play. I tune it down -2 so it a breeze to play.

    Great Company

    By G

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is an update on my previous review. I received the replacement guitar and it plays and tunes perfectly.
I want to thank Paul Kumro and the team at Breedlove for the excellent customer service. Although this model is one of their most affordable guitars, I was treated as if I purchased their highest end guitar. At a time when profit is the bottom line, "Two old hippies" (Breedlove's parent company) is a company of integrity who cares about their customers and their workmanship. Way to go guys!

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for 53 years and I have played on many major label recordings including a Grammy winner. I have many guitars both electric and acoustic but I wanted a decent nylon string. I tried 4 different guitars from Guitar Center in the $500 range and the intonation was off on all of them including the Yamaha NTX series. I brought them back and decided to try the Breedlove which came with a gig bag unlike the previous guitars I tried. It was my favorite, but the intonation was still off on two strings. I emailed Breedlove from their website and I received a phone call the next day from Paul Kumro - Customer services - Two Old Hippies Stringed Instruments (parent company of Breedlove)
Paul was fantastic! He sent me a shipping label in order to send the guitar to their factory in Oregon where it would be repaired or replaced after undergoing quality control testing. I received a call after it arrived there and Paul said that a brand new quality control tested one would ship out the next day. I am expecting an excellent guitar in a few days ... I will follow up when it arrives.

    Beautiful design, first-rate electronics

    By Kim

    from Reno, NV

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Got mine for 319 because the neck was slightly up-bowed and the action was high from about the 8th fret to the 14th fret. I got out my Allen wrenches and adjusted the truss rod – now I have a great playing, beautiful guitar that I plan to keep forever. Others complain about the tuning machines – if you are used to sealed Grovers, these probably look cheesy to you. I think they are better than the ones on my Yairi CY-130, they have two tension adjustments and seem to work just fine.

The Fishman electronics are great, the tuner is very handy and accurate. Like most acoustic-electrics, the acoustic sound is more authentic than the plugged-in sound, but that is to be expected. The phase switch allows some tone variations.

I'm used to the 2 x 4 neck on the Yairi, but this neck is very playable without being too narrow for classical. I play classical on it exclusively. The abalone around the sound hole is a very nice change from the usual kind of cheesy printed appliqué. The headstock logo is mother of pearl, not painted on.

This is a beautiful, stylish, well-thought out instrument for the classical player looking for a more user-friendly axe with modern improvements. I think it will age nicely and gain the volume and bass response of an old instrument.

    Nice guitar. Good value.

    By Enkidu

    from Sacramento

Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Really fun for the price. Breedlove makes nice products. The pickups are good and I can play with a drummer but there are limits to what amplified acoustic sounds like (for amateurs like me anyhow). Neck is lovely smooth, but fretboard reminds you this is a budget guitar (but doesn't really limit your playing). I play this all the time. Get one and enjoy.
