Overview

The Breedlove Pro Series C25/CRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a concert-sized instrument with a soft cutaway, AAA solid cedar top, AAA solid rosewood back and sides, ivoroid binding with herringbone top purfling, abalone rosette, and an L.R. Baggs Element Active pickup system with volume and tone controls. The PS C25/CRe Herringbone guitar offers sparkling tone and a gorgeous, streamlined look and feel that make it an instrument you won't want to put down.

All Breedlove Custom Shop steel-string guitars (except for the Revival Series), Pro Series and Atlas Series guitars use the JLD Bridge Truss system. This device is a cantilevered truss that helps to counterbalance string tension at the bridge, creating a relaxed top and improved structural integrity. This allows the tops to be braced in a very progressive way, with a focus on realizing the full acoustic potential of the top. A relaxed top provides maximal wavelength response and a synergy is created by use of a graduated top thickness, balanced scalloped bracing, and a pinless bridge in combination with the bridge truss system. This gives Breedlove guitars the distinctive and highly dynamic "Breedlove Sound", with a piano-like bass and a remarkably well-balanced tone suitable for a broad variety of musical styles.

Breedlove Paves the Way!

By Brian

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Breedlove Pro Series C25/CRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just purchased this guitar in-store from G.C. and I could not be happier. I walked into the store set on purchasing a Martin. After trying many Martin's and Taylor's (upwards of $2,500 in price) I could not ignore that the tone of this guitar was far superior. When I picked it up and began playing, it filled the room. This was the same result with its live sound. Plugged straight in, with no effects, I was blown away. Hands down the best tone I have heard in a long time. I will admit that the Martin and Taylor names alone made it a hard decision for me to choose the Breedlove. It is tempting to want to march up on stage with that Martin name, but at the end of the day, you have to go with the best tone. Anyone in the market for a high end acoustic guitar....check out this guitar or any other Breedloves. I strongly believe that in 5-10 years, Breedlove will be getting the same strong name recognition of its well-known competitors.

Difficult to play

By Guitar Picker

from Parkton, Maryland

Comments about Breedlove Pro Series C25/CRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Breedlove Pro C25/CR is difficult to play because of the small size frets. When I fret up the neck, the high action and small (low) frets leaves dead notes. I've been playing over 50 years and own eight guitars. This is the least fun to play. Could use a pick guard.

What a tone!!!!!

By Smoke ETR

from Va

Comments about Breedlove Pro Series C25/CRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Purchased 2 weeks before review: Historically, I have heard and observed myself how special Breedlove tone is but I coundn't commit $2k+ for a USA model so I was looking to get one of my other favorites, a Taylor GS7 or GA7, when I found out Breedlove had a sub $2k concert body made in USA; in cedar over rosewood!!!Well I had to go play one. It's tone and projection were almost unbelievable with rich bass & mids as well as clear separated highs all packaged in a small body. The pickup reproduces much of this very good. The neck profile is slightly thicker than Taylors but still plays very well with my very average fingers. I really don't want to say it is a "good value" because it deserves more than that. Yes the price got my attention but the tone made me spend the money. You can spend more on another guitar and not get the package you do from this guitar.

Quality

Comments about Breedlove Pro Series C25/CRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I recieved this guitar about a month and a half ago as a wedding present. The quality and sound of this guitar is amazing. I prefered the sound of the cedar top c25 over the d25 sitka spruce, but thats just me. Unplugged and plugged in, the sound was better than the gibsons, taylors, martins, takamines in my price range. I wanted the warm sound of a martin originally, but this guitar is much sweeter. I play everyday, and everyday I am more pleased and satisfied with my decision to go with this guitar over the others. I have never regreted my decision to purchase this breedlove over a martin or gibson, and I think you will feel the same way.

Tone beats out Taylors at twice the price

By paul

from Virginia

Comments about Breedlove Pro Series C25/CRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Like another reviewer here, I was in the market for a more "high-end" acoutic/electric, and set out looking at Taylors and Martins, based on their stellar reputation. I was amazed to find this guitar at GC, marked down due to a small ding in the top, which blew away the higher priced competition. The tone of this guitar is amazing, very deep and complex on the low end with brilliant highs. I played numerous Taylors and Martins at many locations, some priced at over $3,000.00, and the Breedlove had the best tone, hands-down. My only two complaints are minor - the neck is a bit thicker than many other acoustic/electrics. This could hinder some players, but since I have large hands, it's not much of an issue for me. Second, the electronics don't offer a lot in the way of adjusting the tone when plugged up. Volume and tone are the only controls, and the tone control really seems to be more of a "brilliance" adjustment than a true treble/bass tone knob. Regardless, the onboard pickup does a great job of reproducing the acostic tone of this guitar. Overall, the tone of this instrument easily overcomes any other shortfalls. Would certainly recommend anyone in the market for a nice acoustic/electric check out this guitar before opting to spend more on the bigger name brands.

Breedlove............... What a sound!

By Jonathan Cadd

from Dallas, Texas

Comments about Breedlove Pro Series C25/CRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I too went after a guitar with that unique sound and thanks to the guys at Guitar Center here in Plano, Texas I am the proud owner of a C25CR Herringbone, signed by the master luthier himself. I have played and owned many guitars over the years and this sound that Breedlove has created is second to none. The attention to detail is phenomenal and the sound...... well what can I say you really have to play one and hear it for yourself, there are no words to express the experience. And then when you think you have heard it all...... plug it in and let the L.R.Bags Element Active pickup tickle your eardrums, its a one of a kind to be sure and I for one am looking forward to the day that Breedlove takes its place where it belongs, at the top of the list!!!!
