Taylor Owner Loves Passport

By Dan Hamilton

from New Market, MD

Comments about Breedlove Passport OM/MMe Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Hi, I've owned and currently own several high end Taylors including a K26CE. I used to own an American Series Breedlove as well. This OM/MME that I now own is fantastic. I run it with and without the pre-amp and pickup. I run it through a Genz Benz acoustic amp and can't believe how wonderful it sounds either way. It makes me wonder why I necessarily need another five thousand dollar guitar. I like the pre-amp works and I like the convenience of having a tuner right there on the side of the guitar where I don't have to struggle with it. The tuner is accurate, the pre-amp is great. I would have no problem using this in my performances or in the studio. p.s. this guitar has everything advertised...punch, volume and articulation. BTW....this is a real review from a real guitar player on nobody's payroll. If you are on a budget or want to start with something that is not going to make you go broke...please try it. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Each note a work of art

By Jacob Williams

from Strongsville, OH

Comments about Breedlove Passport OM/MMe Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing and performing on this guitar for more than 6 months now, and words can hardly describe it's potential. If you would prefer a more technical description, this part will cover that. The next paragraph is a more artfully inclined description, so you may skip that if it does not suit you. Anyway, mahogany. This guitar is a beauty both visually and tonally. It has a full-rich sound, with plenty of harmonic overtones to make it sparkle, and is fairly mellow, but without lacking the necessary bite to give it a voice. It has a very comfortable feel in hand, the action being fairly low for an acoustic, but still without any fret buzz. The neck is comfortably thin, but not too thin. The body is just the right size to project well without digging into your ribs or arm (Ahem, dreadnoughts). The tonal spectrum of this guitar is fairly well balanced, with a slight focus on the upper-mids (open G through high E string G), but not so much as to draw away from the other notes of the chord. It holds tuning very well, leaving me to focus on the music and not the intonation. I have not used the electronics much, but any plugged-in performance I have done has been very well received, so it is safe to say they reflect the tone of the guitar very well. Appearance-wise, it isn't as brown as the picture above shows, but redder, but it is a beautiful guitar, and I hear that very often as well from those who see it. I would definitely recommend this guitar, though in my personal preference, Martin & Co. Silk and Steel Strings are a better fit for the tone of this guitar, and I will only use those on it. Now for the artsy review. The harmonic depth of this guitar is what can only be described as alive. I typically write pieces that tell me their stories, as opposed to writing that story for the song. This guitar whispers stories to me in the voice of a lover who shares her broken spirit with me, ever so frail, but always so strong. Her melodies are beautifully haunting, and I am not the only one to hear it. The people I have performed for have pointed out the difference. I can only suggest you try it for yourself to see if this guitar whispers to you as well.
