Breedlove is building no more than five of the Jeff Tweedy Signature Limited Edition 000 Exotic Acoustic Guitar. That fact alone should be enough to make this guitar honoring Grammy winner Tweedy a true collector's item.
Wilco's Jeff Tweedy first came across a Revival 000 in a music shop in Chicago in 2006. While waiting for another purchase to be cased up, he happened to spy a limited edition Breedlove Revival 000 12-fret Calendar guitar (from the 2006 Calendar Series) on the guitar shop wall. After playing that guitar for a few minutes, he added it to his bill, and walked out of the store with it. That Revival 000 guitar soon became a stage and studio favorite. Jeff like it so much, he asked Wilco's road manager to locate another as a backup.
Appointments in Detail
During preliminary discussions about themes for this guitar, Jeff mentioned an interest in bees, spurred by his reading of a book by beekeeper and writer William Longgood, called The Queen Must Die. With a bee theme in mind, Breedlove designed a headstock inlay for the prototype guitar, showing a flower and a single bee. The inlay has since grown in complexity to feature a beautiful flower and vine scheme with 2 honeybees gathering pollen from the flower.
The Tweedy exotic guitar's fret markers are honeycombs, fashioned from gold pearl. Single honeycomb cells adorn the 5th, 7th, 9th and 15th frets, and 3 cells together mark the 12th fret.
