Comments about Breedlove Discovery Maple Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
My $100 Washburn warped this year, and I have an old Yamaha that sounds great but the action is unforgivable... So, I was looking for a nice acoustic that would last me a long time... After many weeks of contemplation, I went to Guitar Center today and spent an hour or so in the acoustic room trying out different guitars. I looked some up online beforehand, and had the Yamaha FG730S solid top or the Martin X1-DE in mind and I tried them both out. And some others. Nothing really felt just right... Then this Breedlove caught my eye... I hadn't heard of Breedlove before, but I picked it up anyway. I'm glad I did. First, I was impressed with the feel of the guitar, like, it was perfectly balanced on my knee... Then, I was impressed by how evenly the lows and the highs projected themselves, from bar chords to fingerpicking. I didn't have to play it that long to realize that this was the guitar for me. Then, I took a second look at it... where's the pick guard? When I looked closely at the finish, I realized, what's the point? It feels great, it plays great, and that's all that really matters (the finish is pretty cool, too).
