For players looking for distinctively crafted sound at an affordable price, the Discovery Dreadnought offers substantial projection for ensemble work, and yet retains the refinement needed for vocal accompaniment. This easy-to-play instrument is ideal for entry-level players who want access to the renowned balance and clarity of a Breedlove guitar. The Discovery Dreadnought has a sapele laminate body with a solid Sitka spruce top and a nato neck with a rosewood fretboard.
The Breedlove Dreadnought is slightly more rounded than traditional dreadnoughts, producing beautifully full, punchy, and articulate tones. The Dreadnought appeals to players inspired by the familiarity of a dreadnought, who are looking for nuance and richness from their instrument. The Breedlove Dreadnought projects well, so it excels in an ensemble, and yet retains the refinement needed for vocal accompaniment.
Sitka spruce is grown in the northwest, and has been the primary top wood for U.S.A. instruments for many decades. It is strong, light, and gives an extended harmonic content and nearly equals the power of Adirondack.
Back and Sides
Maple is great for standing out among other instruments. With a powerful fundamental and even harmonics, it is clear and present, but without pronounced peaks and valleys in the harmonic content. It's a good choice for many sizes and shapes, and works well for strumming and fingerstyle.
A satin-finished nato mahogany neck makes the neck comfortable and easy to play.
Lustrous full-gloss finish, pinless Breedlove bridge and black binding: an attractive package that will make you proud to play this guitar.
Setup and Quality Assurance in Bend, Oregon USA
Breedlove's comprehensive quality control process provides the player with an instrument that will play great right out of the box. Prior to shipment, every Breedlove instrument undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection in Bend, Oregon by our expert U.S. quality control team. We start with a visual inspection: we check aesthetic and structural elements of the body and all components for flaws. Next, each guitar is tuned and undergoes a play test, where Breedlove's craftspeople check nut height, relief, action, and string height. Based on the results of the play test, we then adjust for maximum playability. Next, each instrument is buffed and polished by hand with painstaking attention to detail. Once the instrument has passed inspection, a signed QC sticker is placed, and the instrument is carefully packed and shipped.
