The Breedlove Cascade C25/CRe Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar represents stunning value with all solid woods, a graduated top, rosewood binding, mosaic inlay, LR Baggs Element Active VTC, and a deluxe hardshell case.

Breedlove has chosen Western Red Cedar for the C25/CRe soundboard. This form of cedar is respected for its fine harmonic and dynamic qualities. For the cascade series, Breedlove has given the cedar top a graduated thickness, designed for root-note precision, clarity and focus. Solid rosewood for the back & sides reinforces the natural bass of this concert body shape, producing an overall acoustic tone that is extremely well balanced.

LR Baggs Pickup and Preamp
Plugged in, the LR Baggs Element Active System VTC undersaddle acoustic pickup delivers performance previously unattainable from an undersaddle pickup. The streamlined and efficient design removes every unnecessary internal component to improve the coupling between the transducer and the guitar. This substantially improves the sensitivity of the transducer so the acoustic guitar pickup delivers a robust, lively, and open sound with great dynamics and a delicate high end.

The LR Baggs Element Active System pairs the Element undersaddle transducer with a pre-contoured all-discrete class A endpin preamp and includes small, removable soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls (VTC) for added convenience and versatility. The system provides excellent string-to-string balance.

The Good And The Bad

By Gary Buchanan

Comments about Breedlove Cascade C25/CRe Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Out of the box I noticed the bridge's string saddle was broken for the B string. Tuned it up, strummed, and was met with a horrible fret buzz on both e strings. Toyed with it for about an hour, then put back in case, and notified Breedlove. Breedlove immediately got back to me. Breedlove was awesome about it. They shipped my guitar cross country to rectify problems. (Was willing to have GC do same, as I've been playing a long time and knew it needed minor adjustments to eliminate buzz) But Breedlove was adamant about taking care of me themselves. GREAT company to deal with. They seem to truly care about their customers This guitar is one of the nicest looking I've ever seen. Other than the buzz of course, It played like butter with a rich, resonant sound. Deep, resonant bass tones and beautifully ringing treble tones. Input jack is located in bottom strap hanger peg, which is cool. Volume and tone adjusters are hidden inside sound hole, so it doesn't take away from the instruments beauty. Even though I personally had a problem, for the new price of $699,(they were $1700 for a long time) you will not get a better acoustic for the price. I give Breedlove 5 stars, as Anne in warranties was incredible to deal with.

Comments about Breedlove Cascade C25/CRe Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was, at first, disappointed that the Cascade I recieved did not sport the mosaic marker pins as described in the listing. I contacted Breedlove, and was told that new guitars of this model no longer have this feature. The gold toned pearloid offset marker pins still look distinctive and are a good fit for the guitar. I wonder if the mosaic pins pictured might have been a bit too much bling anyway.

That being said, I love everything about this guitar. I am much more comfortable with the 1-3/4" neck width. The action was perfect right out of the box. The style of and finish on this guitar are beautiful. All solid wood, and you can really feel it resonate.

The tuners are top notch, and the black keys look sharp.

Breedlove guitars have a very distinctive sound. The notes ring out clear with almost a bell or piano like tone. The sound is very balanced, and the sustain is remarkable. This is probably not the best guitar for someone who's style includes a lot of hard strumming though.

I also like that the electronics are concealed and that no holes were cut into the body for them. The hard case is also very good quality, and fits the concert body well.

No regrets about this purchase, and I will enjoy this guitar for a very long time.

Great Guitar - When it isn't cracked

By Daveguitar

Comments about Breedlove Cascade C25/CRe Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Musician's Friend has been my primary source for all of my music gear since my initial purchase from them in the 1980's. So, after numerous purchases, I have come to expect the best from Musician's Friend's staff and products. Upon arrival of my new Breedlove guitar I was excited and ready to enjoy this beautiful instrument that I saved up to purchase. To my dismay, when I received my Breedlove C25/CRe guitar it had a HUGE CRACK (about 10 inches long, impossible not to notice) at the binding on the face of the guitar extending down into the lower bout. The guitar had a nice case and came with all of the requisite accessories and documentation, warranty, etc but had this ridiculous crack in it. So I packed it up and sent it back. I received a replacement soon thereafter and, just like a previous reviewer mentioned, the replacement C25 guitar had plain fretboard markers and not the ornate mosaic pin inlays on the fretboard as advertised. Also there was absolutely no warranty or other Breedlove documentation included with this shipment. It was also missing the foam bridge template which is specific to the uniquely shaped bridge on this model to prevent scratching the guitar finish when restringing it. I called Musician's Friend customer service several times to send me the missing items, and although they are very polite, I have never once received any response or updates to address the problem. When dealing with the Customer Service department EVERYONE promises to do SOMETHING and NO ONE actually does ANYTHING. I inquired to one representative on the phone about their Quality Assurance department and why they don't at least have a checklist to validate that everything is included prior to shipment and he had absolutely no clue what I was speaking about. I feel ripped off in that the fretboard inlays on the replacement guitar are not of the quality as advertised but at this point I at least have a functional instrument. This entire transaction has been very frustrating and although the Breedlove guitar is a great value in comparison to similarly priced instruments, trying to actually get what was agreed to from Musician's Friend and dealing with their customer service department has thus far proven an exercise in complete futility in that they listen to your issue, promise to fix it, and then you hear nothing back. I wish I could give this a high rating but based on how this transaction was handled I simply can't recommend it.

second breedlove

Comments about Breedlove Cascade C25/CRe Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The guitar I received lacked mosaic pin finger board markers, and simply had yellow markers. Otherwise, it is the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen. But I worried what else may be lacking. Breedlove suggested returning it. Also, when played beside a Breedlove Pro series of the same construction, the difference is night and day, with the Pro series sounding much better, for only slightly more money.

Breedlove does it again!

By Joe Zagerman

from Pottstown, PA

Comments about Breedlove Cascade C25/CRe Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

As an owner of two Breedlove Atlas models, I find that the Cascade series is a step above. Most notably in tonewoods, the pinless winged bridge, and other appointments. Packaging was excellent! The new deluxe case is also top notch. The exterior of the guitar is simply gorgeous. Tone and sustain are very good. Notes are crisp and clear. Action is quite good but the saddle may be a touch too high. I allow my guitars to acclimate to a humidity controlled environment before any minor tweaks/ adjustments are made. Looking in the sound hole, I did notice that some of the braces still had a few wood slivers that could have been sanded down. Also, I noticed a few dried glue globs inside the sound hole that could have been avoided. The guitar comes with a nice owner's manual, a Breedlove sticker', extra saddle, allen wrench, and case keys, The electronics are quite simple with easy access to the volume and tone controls. A user manual for the electronics is not included but can easily be downloaded. The manual actually talks about installation instead of user settings for the controls. Don't fret - it's easy to figure the simple controls out. I continue to be a Breedlove fan and would recommend this guitar without hesitation. Go ahead and add this baby to your collection.
