In my search to buy my dream acoustic guitar, I looked at and played alot of guitars in various different price ranges. After playing Taylor's and Martin's in this price range, I can say that this guitar definitely holds it's own in terms of sound quality and tone. When you add in that this is a beautiful guitar with the extra appointments and the awesome L.R. Bagg's electronics that you would only find in a Martin or Taylor at 2 to 3 times the cost of this guitar, it's a no-brainer. If you haven't checked into Breedlove, do it before you make a purchase of another guitar. I think you'll find what I did. A guitar that's as beautiful to look at as it is to play.

Don't get me wrong. The guitar plays and sounds fantastic. In my opinion it's better than Taylor's and even Martin's at the same price level. The only problem I had is the sound jack is broken. The sound coming out is on and off. I bought this guitar new 4 months ago, and I only played it unplugged until couple days ago I found out the problem. Sadly it passed the 30-days-return period. Working with Guitar Center now to try to get it fix ASAP.

The one everyone wants to play

By Peter Amato

from Palm Harbor Fl

Typical to the reviews for Breedlove, I was saving for a Taylor when I picked up a Breedlove at GC. I couldn't believe my ears, what an incredible voice; totally distinct from Taylor, Martin, and Gibson, and I was hooked. Couldn't believe the price for the sound quality, bright highs and rich bass from the rosewood. The neck is like silk and the action tight down the neck with no buzz just sweet, sweet melody. Ordered it online and it came without a hitch. Now it's the one everyone wants to play... I absolutely love it.

Nice Very Nice

By Joseph Koenig

from Santa Ana, CA

The pictures of this guitar online do not do it justice, the "stage" appointments are very nice and tastefully done that really contribute to my pride of ownership. But, that's not the best thing about this guitar -- The sound is incredible -- Try this; listen to EC playing "Easy Now". He finds the sweet spot on his Martin and makes it jump. This is very easy to do with this guitar, give it a try. After playing with a satin finished neck; I will not buy another guitar that does not have a satin finish on the neck. I did not have to spend another $75 - $100 for a set up. It came very well set up. The front strap attachment is better positioned than any of my other guitars makes it easy to pick-up and play without having to mess with the strap and having it get all twisted. The included case is very good quality. My only reservations before buying this guitar were the nut and saddle are synthetic but it doesn't seem to have affected the tone any and if I were to have anything done to this guitar I would have a bone nut and saddle installed. After getting this guitar I noticed that the bindings are a little wide for my taste but do not detract from the overall look. I also do not like the way the batteries (2AA) install. For a acoustic-electric set-up I use an Acoustic Image Clarus 2 series 4 with a Raezer's Edege 12ER speaker it works flawlessly with this amp & speaker. All the tone is still there. This is definitely a players guitar I highly recommend it.

Great choice!

By TERRY COFFMAN

from Bethlehem, PA

This was the guitar I chose after shopping around for about a year. I'd played Lunas, Gibsons, Yamahas, Fenders and Taylors and even own a Martin, and this guitar feels, sounds and plays better than any of them! This guitar can be compared favorably with the Taylor 414ce listed for three times the price. I'd even say I like this Breedlove better based on sound alone. It just so happens that it is a beautiful looking instrument as well. The solid Spuce top and Rosewood back make such brillient tones. It vibrates so much it almost tickles when you play. Really a quality instrument. The L.R. Baggs LR-T CV Tuner Preamp pickup sounds like a dream and the on board tuner is invaluable. Matt and all the guys from the Guitar Center in Allentown, PA could not have been more helpful. Very pleased, would recomend this guitar and any of the Breedloves to friends without hesitation.

Amazing

By John

from Billerica MA

I recently went to Guitar Center because I was in the market for a new acoustic. When I got there I played just about every guitar in the acoustic room and nothing jumped out at me. So the next day I went to a different Guitar Center and did the same thing, again nothing jumped out at me. So I figured Id give it one more shot and go to Guitar Center in Boston and see what they had. I played every guitar in the room from $4000 taylor and martins to cheap fender acoustics. This Breedlove was the BEST guitar I picked up. When I played it I feel like it actually spoke to me. I was amazed at the price too. The folks at breedlove really have something good going. BUY THIS GUITAR!

Perfection at a perfect price

By Ryan

from vancouver Washington

This outstanding guitar falls nothing short of a professional guitar. It is build like a truck, is built partly in the bend oregon area, has solid rosewood back and solid Alaskan sitka spruce top that has a very distinct tone that everyone is looking for in a guitar. the best part about this guitar.....the price! this guitar is the exact same as a 900 series taylor just without the solid rosewood sides and the bone nut and saddle. the sides of the guitar don't affect the tone that much though. and you can easily put in a bone nut and saddle for about $150. (what i did). This guitar is unbelievable in playability, outstanding resonance, and can easily pass as a $2000 guitar. remember people, for taylor and the highly priced companies...your paying partly for the name. which is why they are so expensive and Breedlove isn't. Breedlove makes quality and beginner/travel guitars. This is the most cost effective model though because of the premium wood they use and the superior craftsmanship put into this heavenly instrument.

Best Guitar I have ever played

By nicamay

from Nashville

I got this Breedlove c25/SR for Christmas and I must say it is the most beautiful sounding guitar I have ever played. The sound is just amazing and I think it could top a Taylor any day. For professional musicians out there who are looking for a guitar, I seriously recommend a Breedlove being your next guitar. Looks as beautiful as it sounds.

A dream come true.

By Ryan F

from Loma Linda

I was originally set out to buy a taylor, or martin. I knew my heart desired for one. But one day, I hear about Breedlove, some kinda hype, I think to myself. There's no way the depth of martin can be embodied with the brightness, and clarity in the same guitar. Just NO WAY! but I was about to be proven wrong, when I picked up this guitar, I fell in love at first note. I took note of the heavy, metallic and deep bass, and the clear, shimmering highs. I thought to myself that there's no way this guitar can cost less than a grand. I got it for even less because of a special. this is my guitar for life, until maybe a martin GPCPA1 (maybe for colelge) This will be my highschool guitar. It's beautiful, and to me, better than it's D25 SR twin. Reason being is that dreadnoughts are quite heavy on bass. A dreadnought will be more Boomy, and project more, but that doesn't make it louder. Across a room, the Dreadnought's sound tends to break up, while the Concert sized instrument will remain focused. think of it as a magnifying glass under the sun. The right distance will focus the light, into a powerful beam. Same goes for the concert. Although it is slightly quieter, it's deep bodied, and more focused. It is possible to overdrive this guitar acoustically. You must learn to find the sweet spot that is audible, yet not overdone. If you want a nice kick to your volume, plug in. The LR Baggs preamp and pickup, is phenomenal.....Deep, complex tone.....The Bass doesn't overwhelm the Treble. If you really need volume, simply get an amplifier. There's no sense in sacrificing quality for volume when you can amp/mic it. If you're a bluegrass player, you'd probably want that heavy bass emphasis (which you could easily obtain from this guitar by Setting the EQ to have emphasis on bass, for anyone who does light strumming, vocal accompaniment, bluegrass, worship, or fingerstyle guitar, this is about as good as it gets. My friend who owns a Martin JC-16 Aura (about $2,300) Remarks on Breedlove's full, deep tone. I knew I couldn't go wrong. And neither can you.... A comment about customer service- My guitar's preamp broke (Not faulty wiring! I somehow managed to jam the battery drawer into the preamp, it wouldn't come out, and I couldn't replace the battery!) I immediately contacted Breedlove. The Office Staff transferred me directly to their luthier, Chris. He guided me step by step into fixing it if there was any way, but he diagnosed the problem as unfixable, and the preamp had to be replaced. I sent it to Breedlove through guitar center. Guitar center took the better part of a week to get it there, but Breedlove fixed it ASAP. Heck, they even gave it a really nice setup. Adjusted the Saddle, shaved the nut a little. It's currently on it's way back to here. I haven't seen it in so long, it seems. I can't wait to see my beloved again. A comment about the playability: the nuts on these guitars are rather high, which is why the action is initially high. Either have it set up, from a local luthier, or buy another nut and shave it down slightly. You don't want the nut too low, your guitar should be able to stand up to at least moderate strumming. Unless you'll never play it acoustically, and will always plug in. (Tommy Emmanuel has his A/E guitars he played for his show, ridiculously low.) Take care of this guitar, and it will look new for a lifetime. Not a single deep scratch yet, and no dings that I've made. It plays like a dream. Can't wait to see it again and check out the setup, from Breedlove's head luthier.

Perfection

By Michael

from Texas

Short and sweet, my spoiled nephew thought it would be cool to smash my prized Martin. After explaining the value of an antique Martin to my Brother in law, Price was no object when seeking my replacement. To my consternation, NOTHING, not Martin, not Taylor, not Gibson, sounded even close to what I was looking for. I initially tried the Breedlove because I liked the look of it. I was hooked! It is all the guitar of my antique Martin at a fraction of the cost. I graciously told my brother in law I would settle for the breedlove for now and he could pay me the difference in payments. The difference will pay for two or three more custom Breedloves! Looks Like I came out the winner on this one.
