When I set out to buy an Electric Acoustic to play weekend gigs I was willing to spend good money. Nothing to expensive to drag around on the weekends. I also wanted the electronics to be simple so I didn't have to remember what buttons to turn to get the best tone. Next I was looking for something that would be comfortable to play all night long, but most of all it had to sound great unplugged as well as amplified through the Bose Compact System. I was told upfront by the guys at GC that this was a favorite guitar to play. I didn't give it much thought because the cost of this guitar was way lower than I was planning on spending. I wanted to get the most for what I could spend. I started with the Taylor 314 I got to say I love this guitar but I was still shopping, then I tried the Taylor 214 & 114 both played nice unplugged but didn't do it for me. Next I picked up a Breedlove in the $599 & $699 range. Both played great but sounded similar to the taylor plugged in. Then I tried a Martin the Black HPL, this thing has great sound plugged in but lacked some unplugged. Keep in mind I brought each of these guitars home overnight to give a fair evaluation. Finally I tried the cheap ugly duckling Breedlove CM. These guitar had it all, comfort, killer tone and sustain unplugged and through the Bose System. The Cedar top is very warm and seem to breathe with tone. Like I said earlier, the price was way lower than I planned to spend. Let's just say the Breedlove Passport CM is a keeper! May I add that GC gladly gave me a refunded check for the difference I paid at the beginning of my journey. I brought it home and went to the bank to deposit my savings. I guess you can't judge a book by it's cover and don't ever buy anything without playing it first. Ever guitar is different so check them out at GC and buy locally. You need these guy's in our corner and a place to test drive your next purchase. Also, the built in tuner is AWESOME!!!!Thank you GC.

  • Just Lost for Words....

As reviewed by Isaac on 2/2/2011

I can't even describe this guitar. For the price, it is the best guitar ever made. Solid Red Cedar top sounds amazing, giving it a bright full quality sort of sound. It sounds a little muted on the bottom strings, so you don't twang the strings, and they don't buzz. I thought something was wrong with the electronics, but I wasn't pushing the cord in enough (heeheehee). This is a MUST BUY for all experiences.
