Incredibly responsive, with a bright, chunky, throaty voice for an aura of authenticity.

Reviving a design aesthetic inspired by Kim Breedlove and offering an unparalleled appointment package for devoted Mandolin players, the Legacy FF mandolin is crafted from high grade tonewoods: Sitka spruce for the top, and Western bigleaf maple for the back, sides, and neck. Black binding on the body top, back and neck accentuate the curves and the design of the F-style, which features a unique, retro-inspired peg head as well as a pronounced scroll on the bass upper bout. The Legacy FF is finished with a captivating red toner full-gloss finish. The radiused fingerboard (which offers great comfort) is adorned with a detailed mosaic pin inlay and standard size frets. Gold hardware is standard on all Legacy Mandolin models. For amplification, the Legacy FF is equipped with the K&K Twin Internal electronics system.

  • Beautiful Mandolin.

As reviewed by Joseph on 1/15/2015

First off, and most importantly, the tone is amazing, even in a new, non-warmed in state, the tone is lovely. It's a little on the bright side, which I would expect in a brand new mandolin, but it is not unpleasant and far from tinny or hollow. Great sustain on single notes and chords as well as excellent chop. Overall, really quite lovely sound, I can't say enough good things about it. Playability and feel are spot on. I love the radiused fingerboard and slightly wider nut. I call banjo and bass my primary instruments and I can reside happily on this guy without discomfort, but I've had folk who are more dedicated mandolin players comment on how nice this instrument feels to them. As for appearances, the fit and finish on this mandolin are second to none. The burst is exquisite and meets or exceeds my expectations given there are mandolins that cost twice as much that have trim packages that compete with the Legacy FF. Just stunningly beautiful. I was concerned that the lack of a 'full scroll' would bother me. Breedlove mandolins are not quite the conventional shape and that seems to turn some folk off. But holding, playing and experiencing this mandolin is a different matter altogether. It's a beautiful instrument that is both classically beautiful and modern.
