  • Stunningly beautiful sound - an inspiration to play

As reviewed by HolyOnesMusic on 10/10/2009

I've been playing guitar for 45 years, playing the same Takamine for 32 years, and decided it was time to get myself a new guitar. So I shopped all the music stores (Guitar Center had the largest selection) and played all their guitars, narrowing them down by beauty of tone. I repeated this again and again for weeks, finally narrowing the search to a couple of Gibsons (including a jumbo) and this jumbo Breedlove J350/EF. The Taylors had too much mid-range and the Martins didn't project as well as I had expected. But Gibsons and this Breedlove had sparkling highs and rich deep lows as well as amazing resonance. And the jumbo size made for impressive projection. So the final choice was came down to this guitar and a Gibson SJ 150EC, both of which sounded gorgeous. The intonation of the Gibson, though, was noticeably off, while the intonation of this Breedlove is as near perfect as you can get. And the Gibson was 2 1/2 times the price, so the choice was obvious. The beautiful sounds I can make with this guitar inpsire me to want to play more - I never felt so inspired by previous guitars I've owned. When I play by myself, I like to sit with my chin on the guitar body and feel the sound fill my head. Drawbacks: The action was a little high and I had to have a local luthier adjust it for me. And the bridge has pointy edges and corners, nearly bruising my right hand. (People who make guitars ought to play them to see how they feel!) Anyway, I sanded down the offending edges and it's fine now.

  • Outstanding purchase

As reviewed by Drew Hacker on 9/26/2011

I have been scoping out Breedlove guitars for a while after hearing about them from a friend and tirelessly comparing them to high end Taylor and Martin. I wanted to buy a guitar that could project clear tones and have good sustain, and once I found this guitar, I had to have it. I had set my price-range, and even though this was on the bottom end of it, I had to have it. Every time I play on this guitar, it amazes me. I put on some D'Addario EXP mediums after a while, and wow, the lows are amazing unplugged and the response is exceptional. I would say that based on this purchase, I am a Breedlove lover. I will definitely look at some of the higher end guitars Breedlove if I even need a guitar again.

  • Amazing!!!! Sick guitar!

As reviewed by Jesus on 4/5/2011

After months and months of searching, reading reviews, and looking at videos i was set on getting a Takamine jumbo. I arrived at guitar center looking for one and there it was, the last one there. So i tried it. It played pretty good but i noticed the highs were really like twangy. Then i stop and its as if it was meant to be: in front of me was a very beautiful looking guitar (breedlove jumbo). So i just had to try it. The first strum was heaven to me. I was in awe. From there i couldnt put it down. I ended up buying this guitar. Its sustain is ridiculous! Amazing lows mids and highs. Ive received nothing but compliments on the sound and beauty of this guitar. I highly recommend it. You wont be disappointed. And the action aint that bad but it can be lowered just a bit.
