I orginally saw this pedal on the Dave Navarro guitar dvd. I had to get this pedal. I'm glad I did, this thing is sick. I use it on my Fender Super Champ tube amp, and when its on drive with the dirty channel, I'm ready to blow the windows out. Your guitar sounds out of this world when you use this. It's so worth the cost. Get it and you won't put it down.

This is the first Octave pedal Ive ever owned. My first thoughts when I played trough this pedal was that it must be defective. The sound was not what I thought it was going to be. It made my 2000 Fender Fat Strat sound like a cheap knock off guitar. I played it though a fender Deville 212 with no other effects. The pedal had a real digital sound to it and it. The low end got really muddy sounding. Try it out at a shop before you buy.

Orchestra At Your Feet

By GtrsUSAMadeOnly_ButNoPatriot

from Undisclosed

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

When combined with other signal processors of your preference, the Super Octave is essential; it allows you to cover, for the most part, the sonic range of most orchestras. While the POG might be a better (and much costlier) octave generator, the Boss is much friendlier with other processors. While the POG generates beatiful variations of your tones, it is less chord-friendly, and seems to be for the neophyte jazz player 2B. I'd prefer to own both, but for my eclectic genre-less as possible music, the Boss is, as far as I know, the best available.

Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal

By JohnBBTS

from Jersey

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

This is the only Octave Pedal that i can tour and record with. I tune to C standard and with this pedal i can drop an octave or two and it stays solid and thick and the notes are clear. Any other octave pedal i have tried would break up and sound horrible. If you play heavy this is the pedal to use.

A lot of fun for a little pedal

By Tommy, from Ohio

from OH

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

I got this pedal as a gift and thought "Oh, an octave pedal....I can do the Hendrix thing!" Little did I realize that this thing was capable of two octaves beneath my original note (watch out playing chords..it's wierd!). It's a lot of fun for some soloing. I really like how it bugs my bass- playing brother!!

fuzzbox

By someone crazy

from wouldn't you like to kno

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

i was looking for an octave sound that would add an octave above the note i play, well this is just the opposite, and the lower octaves sound muddy and barely come through depending how high the note is. However it does produce a very distorted sound, much like the sound ive been looking for, so i use it like a fuzzbox

Amazing, but know how to use it

By RockstarRoadRunner

from New Jersey

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

The Boss OC-3 Octave Pedal can be your guitars best friend or your worst headache. It's generaly used to bring your guitar down an octave low to a more bass-ie tone. ie; The white stripes. If your looking to play full chords your definately gonna get a muddy, bouncy tone unless you switch to "poly" mode. That'll keep the octave low, and let you play much less muddy bouncy chords. Remember that this pedal brings you an OCTAVE DOWN, not up. Your getting a bass-ie tone with it, so if that's not for you than keep shopping, but Boss is definately the best. Check out the Gearwire.com test of the OC-3 Octave on youtube for a demo of how it works, or listen to Jack White of The White Stripes, who uses this pedal almost exclusively.

Excellent for an accompanying bass riff!

By Thomas Wilkins

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

I picked up a used OC-3 yesterday and when I got home, I found myself up all night playing with it! I layed tracks, figured out a few choice settings and can't wait to show my friends! This thing is perfect for broadening my sound and adding flavor to my playing! I don't know how I did without it before!

love it

By Terry Alexander

from Albany,Or.

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

This pedal is very cool. Love Boss pedals and this one is a keeper. I own a couple of different octave pedas. I have a MXR Bluebox and its fun too. But the Boss oc-3, I have a lot more control and more options. Works really good with loop stations. Makes it easy to drop a bass line with your guitar and then play right with it.

Suck my Butt!

By A.J.

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

To be fair I purchased the pedal thinking it was going to usher in the second coming of Christ. So when I found it was less than what I expected, I was let down to say the least. The tracking was aweful. Not just into the low register, but everywhere. Now I have to return it and try out the EBS or the MXR analog alternatives.

Great Octave pedal

By Maxn

from Little Rock, AR

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

The only issue is that it cant handle two notes at the same time, much less a chords. But for shredders, metal head, and anyone into some cool sounds, this is a good stomp box. It really has a punch to it in the Drive mode. Doing something melodic? then buy it!

I love this thing!

By louis mosley

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

Been wanted this pedal for quite a while now, I've been putting off buying one for a couple years. I actually just recently bought this pedal as a BDAY present to my self haha! I've been using the oc3 with a boss digital delay dd6, I've tweaked them both to get the weirdest sounds and tones, it awesome. I've done some weird recording with it and it sounds awesome, you can be very creative with this pedal. I would highly suggest buying it if you've been looking into it.

Comments about Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal:

I was using the pedal to be a pretend bass player with my acoustic guitar. The unit pretty much did the job. Only glitch was an F#, fourth fret on the D string. I was using a Taylor acoustic. Subsequent experimentation showed that is something between Taylor and the OC-3 because the problem didn't occur with my Strat. I'm gonna try it with a Yamaha Silent Nylon String to see how that does. All in all I think the pedal is pretty cool.
