Overview

The Boss GT-10 is a multi-effect guitar pedal driven by the latest custom-made Boss DSP and their proprietary Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSM). The GT-10 pedal is a floorboard powerhouse that offers massive effects capability, natural musical response and a marked improvement in sound quality. The Boss GT-10 is also loaded with an innovative user interface including EZ TONE which allows you to create new sounds with the most intuitive and easy-to-use interface ever.

Advanced sound

Powered by the custom-made new-generation processor and BOSS proprietary sound modeling method COSM, the GT-10 guitar pedal ushers in a new era of audio quality for guitarists. BOSS' huge accumulated know-how of effects and sound modeling are fully integrated into this flagship multi-effects floorboard. As a result, tone quality is supreme, and response to playing dynamics is much more natural and musical. And not just for the stage‚ÄĚthe GT-10 is also great in the studio thanks to its USB capability and digital output.

EZ TONE wizard

The GT-10 is a pro players dream, but it's also friendly and easy-to-use. The innovative EZ Tone wizard helps you create top-quality sounds quickly. It offers a truly intuitive approach based on graphical icons to get the sounds that guitarists are imagining. No more struggling with parameters on the LCD or multiple cursor commands. As well as the EZ TONE, managing the GT-10 multi-effect pedal is truly intuitive. For example, the Positional Tone Control allows tone and effects creation via a revolutionary Tone Grid where you place the pointer in a spatial area depending on what kind of tone or effects you want. Value of the essential parameters shown can be increased/decreased immediately by tweaking four rotary encoder knobs below the LCD. Operation is similar to having compact pedals on a pedal-board quickly jumping from any effect to any effect.

More flexibility and possibility

Boss GT-10's PARALLEL CHAIN offers two separate effects paths including COSM amp models for super tone capability or seamless switching from a clean tone to a heavy tone and vice versa. Two channels can be used simultaneously or blended by expression pedal, or even switched by playing dynamics.

Phrase Looper Built-In

GT-10 comes equipped with PHRASE LOOPER. This inspiring feature allows phrases to be created using sound-on-sound loop recording for performance, practice, or as a sketchpad.

USB Connectivity

Connect the GT-10 pedal to a wide range of external gear via its rear-panel USB port, where audio and MIDI data (bulk data) can be streamed digitally to computers, digital recorders, or other compatible devices. Safely transfer precious data to and from the GT-10 via USB as well.

Quality Construction

It's a BOSS tradition to build gear that looks great, is user friendly, and stands up to the rigors of the road. The GT-10 is no exception, with its strong, stylish design, and six dedicated footswitches plus expression pedal. The high-contrast LCD and LED make using the GT-10 multi-effect pedal a breeze even on dark stages or in glaring sunlight. The sturdy metal chassis is BOSS road-tough.

The single greatest investment I have made on my pedal setup yet. I used to own all the individual Boss pedals until they started breaking on me because they dont line up perfectly with the metal connectors. I got sick of pressing two, three, and four pedals at the same time and the distortion/clean. This makes life so much easier for Live Shows and the Studio. This has EVERY single pedal and effect you could ask for and more, PLUS THIS MODEL HAS A LOOP STATION!!! PURE GENIOUS! I endorse BOSS products 100%. Go buy one right now. It'll take some time to set it up and choose the settings and such but once it's all memorized and saved you just have to play!!! No joke, the BEST thing in digital effects out right now!!

Ok this thing is the most finicky thing i've ever used, it really isn't that complex, i understand how it works and i know most of it's features. But i just find EVERYTHING sounds the same, but with different eq settings. For example, there is a marshall higain preamp, it sounds like a rectifier amp model, but with different eq settings on a 10 band eq or something, everything has the same feel to it, the high gain amp models are ok, clean is pretty good but i find chords aren't pleasant to the ears, crunch is ok but i rarely use any crunch so i wouldn't count it out. This thing DOES NOT respond like a tube amp at all, and i find it tends to sound horrible at high volumes. I found the best way to get a good high gain sound is leave the gain at twelve oclock and put a tube screamer into the mix, some days i like this amp, some days i hate it, but i know i will eventually sell it to some poor sucker and go get a line 6 pod x3 live. Oh and the mesa amp models treble, bass and mids don't even respond properly, or it's just naturally a really weak eq.

Unbelievable!

By Scott

from O'Fallon MO

I think I was the first person in St. Louis to get one. I've been seeking after one since the most recent NAMM show. I love it! The tones are smooth and very real and the Loop machine is a great addition to the pedal. This is very easy to use and the best sounding unit I have ever played. Right out of the box!

GT-10 vs. RP1000

By George

from Garrett Park, MD

When looking to purchase a high end Multi-effects pedal, I was mainly choosing between 2 models, the Boss GT-10, and the Digitech RP1000. After playing with both of them and researching them I chose the GT-10 for 3 reasons, the interface, the versatility, and the Harmonizer. While the RP1000 is much more user friendly, the fact that the GT-10 has an actual screen makes it much easier to visualize your virtual effects loop, and tweak your sound much better. The GT-10 also has much, much more options when it comes to changing tones. It goes beyond the simple, gain/bass/mid/treb/pres/res settings by adding settings such as a solo/bright switch, virtual mic placement and more. Finally, the Harmonizer on the GT-10 blew away the RP1000's. The RP1000 gave a key and scale input, but only produced simple harmonies, and did not give the twin guitar sound that I was looking for and got on the GT-10. While the GT-10 was what I was looking for, the RP1000 is not a bad multi-effects pedal. It had more amp/cabinet/effects models, some which sound better than the GT-10, and an Amp/Cabinet bypass switch, which can be done on the GT-10, but require a little more work. In short, the GT-10 should satisfy the experienced guitarist/effects user because of it's tweakability, but should not be bought by someone who has never used a multi-effects pedal and does not understand how they work - The RP1000 is much more simple to get a good sound.

BOSS GT-10 SHRED MACHINE

By David B. Koone

from Mount Holly, North Carolina

I have had the GT-10 for about 2 weeks now and still amazed by the tonal quality of this unit. Excellent tube like characteristics on the sound. Very natural sounding with plenty of harmonic overtones on the heavier distorted settings. Built like a tank ready for the abuse of playing out and about. Any sound you can imagine is possible from this unit, from country, blues, metal, nu-metal, jazz,etc.... Other units I have tried seem to have a lot of "mud", this unit at high volume settings retains its sonic signature. If using on small combo amps you must use through effects loop to get the true sound quality of the GT-10. If you are considering this unit just go ahead and get it, you will not be disapointed! This unit again is top notch, go ahead and get it!!

Greatest MFX for the cost!

By Boss rocks!

from Glendale, Ky.

I've had mine now for about 7 months - never get tired of playing with it. The quality of effects are stunning as are the Amp Models. EZ is great for finding tones on the "fly"... but if you really want to make this thing sing you need to dive in deep. The amount of paramaters you can control are a bit overwhelming at first - but it's not rocket science and it won't take long to find "your sound". It can take a bit of tweaking to dial in your tone for your gear - but don't give up, the reward far outweighs the work to get there. This baby replaced my PODXTlive and I have never looked back since I got it. I play it through the PA at Church and a dual Fender Amp setup at home and it sounds equally good in both settings. Don't believe those that give this unit bad ratings. Either they haven't taken the time to figure it out or are just tone-deaf... I know many recording engineers that are using this thing, and if it's good enough for them - it's good enough for you.

the best effects pedal ever!!!

By ray

from west carrollton, OH

i was torn between picking between a line 6 pedal and boss after i tryed them both and also other effect pedals, the gt10 was by far the best effects pedal i have ever played i gig all the time and i haven't even had a chance to go through all the effects yet, it has 200 preset sounds and you can store over 200 sound in you user bank, thats over 400 sounds total, and thats not even including you can make your own sounds witch is totaly sweet, it has a built in looper faze witch can loop for 45 seconds, and awsome l.e.d. lighting witch make it easy to see if your playing on a dark stage. i highly recomend this pedal over all other pedals ever made, its by far the best i have ever played..

great for anyone

By pinkston

from st. louis, illinois

This pedal is great for any type of player. theres so many effects and amp models, you can match any sound from any band exactly as u hear it. and you can plug it into a practice amp and get a marshall stack sound or a mesa rectifyer without carrying around a 50 pound stack. One of my favourite things about it is puting the pedal bend on and going from E tuning to D tuning in less than a few seconds.

Traded RP1000 for BOSS GT 10

By SCOTTY B

from Knoxville Tn

After having the RP500 and RP1000 I could never get the sound I was looking for.The phaser , flanger and other efects sounded flat however I do prefer how user friendly the unit is and the xedit feature is cool, but when compared to sound that the BOSS GT10 can produce is out of this world. I could not get a bad sound from the effects , ect. The BOSS GT10 works great with my amps something I could never get out of the RP500 OR RP1000. I highly recommend the BOSS GT10.

This is a very intuitive unit to operate. Sounds great and is very well organized. The presets only need a little E.Q. and they sound fine. The E.Q. is default display for each patch, very handy!

Everything I hoped for and more

By Chip Wolf

from Willard MO

I bought this after hanging on to an Ibanze UE-400 for years. At first I was a bit frustrated as BOSS instructions in general are not written that well. They are hard to follow at times. After I have spent some time working through some of the instructions, and frequent references to some very helpful videos on how to program and edit sounds on Youtube (thanks folks), I have really been able to begin to use this great pedal. Great and heavy construction, so it is durable. Nice to look at visually and good in low or regular light Nice wide range of sounds and effects. I really liked the looping time allowed. Fun to layer more sounds on top of the base loop. The only thing I was disappointed is that you are unable to start and stop and restart a loop. Once you stop it, it is gone. Bummer. As I have now gotten a better feel for editing sounds, the pedal is becoming more and more fun. I would recommend this pedal for sure, but the directions could use some work. But you can get some good visual instruction on Youtube.

Good Effects

By Modest rocker

from San Antonio, TX

I bought this pedal on a whim when I was updating my setup. I have to say it is by far one of the better multi effect processor out there in its price class. The only gripe I have is the OD section. At moderate and higher levels you get the cocked wah problem. At first I thought it was just my unit until I went to the boss central forum. It seems itۡs to be a problem with the pedal it self. Other than that the pedal is awesome.

blues player

By greg cheeseman

from san diego CA

I have had my GT10 for a year now, and I am no closer to figuring it out than a week after I bought it. I play guitar. Im not a sound engineer. I find it very complex. The manual is as thick as the yellow pages , and might as well be written in Chinese. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that one of the pre set tones (tone journey) makes my G&L asat sound like a $10000 Les Paul. Maybe in just not that smart, but they could have made it more user friendly. Also, it has a 38 second loop. Try fitting a slow 12 bar blues into 38 seconds. Cant be done

A Tank with Tone!!!

By Stephen

from Clinton, MS

Itۡs been a year. I picked the GT10 to use at church. I needed big tone with low stage volume. Selling points - The GT10 was more rugged than the others. The effects were better than ALL the others. The amp models were a little suspect at first. But, with a little tweaking ۡ I love them now. You need the FS6 footswitch extension. Trust me, it doubles the capabilities of the GT10. My only negatives ۡ no balanced XLR output, no graphical computer interface for programming (there are some third party solutions ۡ Boss should take the hint), & it needs a jack for another FS6. If you are playing small places or where you canۡt get an amp cranked to the perfect tone or in a cover band and need lots of different tones. THIS IS IT!! I now find myself turning on my PA to practice and not my tube amp. I highly recommend this TANK - love the tone, love the effect, and love all the thousands of options!!

Outragous!!!

By Ignacio Padilla

from Barstow, CA

Out of all the multi effect pedals I have ever touched, this one is by far the best. It includes every effect I can think of while having an extremelly simple interfaced. after spending just ten minutes with it I was creating my own tones, effects, and sounds. I have owned it for one week and it is by far the best pedal I've ever seen.

Killer tones!

By Jason

from Glendale, Ky.

I bought my GT10 to replace my PODxt a year ago and haven't looked back. As with any MFX unit - there is a learning curve... and this will give back all that you put into it. Packed with great amp models and killer effects... this unit has replaced all my gear and is all I use now. Boss builds their units rock solid and I'm quite sure this thing will last a long time... it's not some piece of cheap plastic like their competition is making these days. The best thing about this is the versitility... you can program any FX to assign to any button you want. EZ tone is a breeze to make a patch on the fly, however this thing is so easy to use on it's own I rarely use that feature. Boss has definately lead the charge in the modeling community and is showing just about everyone "who's the BOSS!".

Best multi-effects pedal I have ever used!

By Shane Hamilton

from Tucson, AZ

I honestly received this pedal by accident trying to order the Line 6 XT and X3 Live, but due to Line 6 discontinuing the XT and X3, I got the GT-10 instead, and let me tell you, I am VERY glad I got the GT-10 instead. I have never used any of the GT series before, only the ME pedals from Boss, so at first I was very confused on how to edit patches and banks. But within 1 hour of looking through the manual I knew how to do most everything on the pedal. Editing patches is VERY easy, you can even use the Boss FS-6 (expansion pedals) with this like I did on the ME series. You can change any one of the pedals functions to do whatever you want! You can use the expression pedal to speed up or slow the delay! I currently have my Ctr 2 pedal as my tap tempo for my delay, and Ctrl 1 to turn delay on and off. You can name each patch to whatever you want, which really helps me because Iۡm in a cover band that plays nearly 100 songs! There are SO many great features on this pedal that it is a MUST HAVE for a guitarist who uses several effects and different distortions and tones. If you are trying to decide about getting one, look up videos online on the different functions this baby has! This thing has more control over your effects and distortion than you can imagine. For all you live concert players, thereۡs a setting I like to use that makes every LED on the board flash (strobe-like) dimly so that when you are in complete darkness on stage, you wonۡt hit the wrong pedal accidentally! I can go on and on about all the different tricks this thing can do, but you just need to see for yourself! And I definitely suggest getting an extra EXP pedal or the FS-6 footswitch (gives you 2 more Ctr pedals, or whatever you want them to be! I have mine set to Tuner (mute) and Solo (raises the volume a bit for solos, helps for when you have a rhythm guitarist behind you). Hope you found this helpful and I REALLY hope you get this pedal, you wonۡt be disappointed!

the best mfx unit ive ever played

By brad hughes

from durham,nc

this to me is one of the best multi effects units on the market. i especially like the delay. scince i play worship music i like being able to layer delays on top of each other. i alsoo like the cosm amp modeling because if you want to sound like your playing through a vox ac-30 you can. the only thing i dont like about this is the distortions. they sound very digital and hurt your ears. iwould reccomend just to buy a distortin pedal like the ocd or a rat. but other than that this is what ive been looking for

Ultimate Tone, Harmonics & Sustain

By Eric Goble

from Lake Oswego, Oregon

I bought this unit from my long time friend Hawkey at the Beaverton, Oregon GC and this thing is excellent. I can't say enough good things about it. I see a few people complained about its too hard to program which seems odd because my 9 year old boy programmed a few patches right out of the box and is stoked on it as well. Technical details about the GT-10 are the incredible result of Roland's COSM technology for sure. Incredible sustain, tone & harmonics with a great noise gate feature as well so you can crank your amp way up and when you do rests and mute the strings you get nothing but silence. Plug this processor into any amp and you get a professional sound that would only be rivaled by some super expensive Eventide rack units. I should also mention the this is an ASIO compliant sound card as well. I downloaded the driver from BOSS, installed it, plugged in the GT-10 and was recording into ACID PRO 7 in mere seconds. It was really that easy. I have Native Instruments Guitar Rig with the Rig Kontrol 3 and it sounded like a Fisher Price toy compared to the GT-10.
