Rock solid

By Ric o sound

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

This is the first stomp box a bassist should buy. It's Boss, so you know it will never break. And it has a great range of frequencies, so you can make pretty much any amp/bass setup sound better. I play a Rickenbacker 4003, and this thing has been great for accentuating the clear treble sounds of my ric. I use it to cut the mid down and boost the low end for a great growl and crystal clear highs. I would also suggest the Boss Bass limiter.

A great addition to your tone

By Dogstarr1

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

EQ is probably one of the most useful things to have at your disposal, it can completely change the nature of any instrument or amp and is very useful to shape your tone either in front of or after other effects. The Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer is particualrly useful on passive basses.

My new facorite pedal

By High10s96

from Maple Grove Minnesota

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

If you are a bass that is pedal crazy and plays with multiple pedals, this EQ is a necessity. Using many effects as a bass, I lose a lot of tone (especially using other boss pedals which aren't true bypasses). As soon as I put this on my pedal board, all my problems were solved. This EQ can hit the lowest of lows, and the highest of highs. It brings SO much more tone to your bass. I play with a 100 watt acoustic, and i had the gain as low as possible and the master very low, and once I turned on the EQ, the house was already rattling. I highly recommend this pedal to anyone who wants thick, clear, and loud sound! It is worth way more than it is priced. you will love this pedal!

Great

By LJLS

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

This pedal is a must. If you're tired of having to walk to your amp during a show to switch tones...then buy this. I would recommend this pedal to any bass player. Make sure you get the "geb-7" and not the "ge-7". I made that mistake by getting the wrong one. My guitar center in south Austin TX quickly helped me out and ordered this for me. I would recommend anything made by BOSS and recommend Guitar Center. This is such a great pedal to switch between a muddy sound to a sharp slap tone.

Steroids for Bass

By Milito

from Leesburg, VA

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

I bought this pedal after reading lots and lots of reviews. The pedal is awesome. It can turn your sound from wimpy sounding to thick and "muscular" sounding. It gives more presence. We record our gigs using a camcorder. Before, the bass was unnoticeable. Now I can hear it in the recording.

Really Decent!

By SurferJoe

from Anza, CA

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

If you are NOT playing a bass with an active system, then you need this. I'm talking to all you P- and J-Bass players here. I was about to never play my P-Bass again after I got an Ibanez SD500 and it sat while I was trying to decide to get rid of it or not. I bought this equalizer in Flagstaff on a road trip and it makes the Fender sound almost as good as my Ibby now. Of course, the Fender doesn't have the pups for the job either - but that's a different review. I suggest this is really the only way to get a non-active bass to play decently and it is well worth the money if you don't want to pay lots for a new bass and amp. Your playing will really improve and the string noises are all but gone with it too.

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

I really am enjoying the Boss GEB-7 Bass EQ effect pedal. This pedal works great for shaping any clean tone on the bass. It's perfectly tailored to the frequencies of the bass. I owned a couple of other bass EQ pedals in the past including the MXR 10 band EQ pedal, but I personally get a much better sound out of the Boss pedal, plus it is smaller and compact, fits nicely on any pedal board and runs on 9V as opposed to 18V. I use it for all of my live shows to really help boost the low end when running over drives and distortion effects which can cut a lot of the low frequencies out of the mix. Highly recommended this pedal to any bassist looking for a solid bass EQ pedal.

Great sound shaping in a small box, for a great price.

    By carmine leone

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

Why buy a new head with a built in multi-band EQ when you can just kick up ~100 bucks and get a 7 band EQ pedal? This thing is great, it's always on if I'm playing, it just shapes the tone SO well.

More Than Just A Bass EQ

    By Paul

    from St. Louis area

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

I bought two of these (used) through the website from the GC store in Minneapolis. Got a great deal. When they arrived, they looked almost new. Made the deal even better. Why did I buy two? Well, one was for my acoustic bass guitar, which just sounded weak and lame when run directly into the mixer. Its passive piezo needed some umph, especially when compared to the active systems run by both guitar players. I'd borrowed my guitar player's GEQ pedal and figured this was just what I needed, but more bass-centric. I also play cello in this acoustic trio. I bought one of those stick-on piezo pickups for it, and used the second BEQ for the cello, which needs a completely different equalization than the acoustic bass guitar. Both of these units provided me with the level boost I needed, and tone-shaping ability to make both instruments sit in their correct sonic space for this project.

I'm using this w/ the Fender Rumble 500 (4band eq). It's a powerhouse! Very versatile. You can use it to beef up your sound or use it as a boost. Either way it sounds amazing.

Comments about Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal:

I was struggling with my beefy S90es keyboard sound getting lost in frequency wars with the bass player. I bought one of these to roll off my bottom end. Keyboard sound now cuts through clearly with less volume. Because I cut, rather than boost, noise is not added. I put it after the direct box in my effect chain and use the cut/boost to adjust my stage volume remotely without affecting the level going to the PA. It works so well I'm surprised more keyboardists don't do this.
