Overview

Fender amps of the '50s and '60s are beloved and coveted by guitarists around the world. Thanks to BOSS' technology and tone know-how, the new FBM-1 pedal brings the natural, fat, rich, bright tone of the Fender Bassman to a BOSS pedal. In conjunction with Fender, the BOSS FBM-1 re-creates the legendary tone of the 1959 Fender Bassman. Features include the same controls on the original Bassman amp: Presence, Treble, Mid, and Bass EQ controls. The FBM-1 pedal also functions perfectly as a "pre-gain pedal" placed before an already overdriven amp to add the tone character of the Bassman.

Features
  • Re-creates the legendary tone of the 1959 Fender Bassman amp
  • Additional BRIGHT IN provides a brighter sound, similar to the original Bassman

bought this to push a bassman amp at low volume. Only used it a couple of times but was able to dial in very nice tone and a reasonable volume

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

Let me start by saying that if you are a player who likes that fat and a little buzzy sound from the late 50's,60's and so on then you'll love this pedal as much as I do. My setup is a Gibson les Paul 50's tribute with Seymour Duncan 59's humbuckers singing through a fender champion 100. I like the gain at about half way on the pedal and played through the clean channel on the amp. I'm able to tweak it just enough until breakup of tone. And if that's too heavy I just roll back the volume of the guitar for a nice clean up. I use the pedal strictly as an overdrive/fuzz. I play mostly slide and I'm a die hard Duane Allman tone hound. I will say that if that is the sound you want, you'll have to really do some tweaking. I can't achieve it with my setup. But if you're into the early Clapton stuff, I'm getting that "woman British tone" that just can't be beat. You'll be getting classic sounds for slide blues and country. As far as this pedal sounding like an original 59 bassman? Short answer, I haven't the slightest of clues. I was always taught that you tweak it enough you'll find your sound and you'll be happy with that. And if the original bassman sound is what your after, then buy the amp. Until then play what sounds good to you!

Tone stack for the classic fender sound!

    By Tweed-Caster

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

this boss classic is a great addition to your pedal board. I use it with the Fender Princeton reverb amp. and it allows me to dial in the "bigger" Bassman sound ---a more powerful bottom end. the presence knob add a great deal of the top end chime. It also worked wonders with the Ampeg J-20 --a single knob tone stack. Lastly, the drive and gain knobs allows for a very small to a massive amount of "low gain" overdrive. Sadly, this pedal is out of current production ---Best order now before they are all gone!

    Wow.........

    By Rob F.

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

I picked this pedal up and used it the same night. After reading reviews, I thought this just may be the ticket for an old SS Multivox amp I've had since the early 80's. Wow, was I right! It changed a rather flat sounding amp into something that has alot of character. The FBM-1 was well worth the money. Now I have a usable, made in USA amp that is built like a tank. And Boss pedals are well known for their rugged build and long life, too. I could get everything from a tubey clean to a BB King sound out of this old SS amp! Maybe more hair left in the pedal, but I don't play real heavy rock, so I can't really comment on that. I doubt that's what this pedal is what you would be after, anyway. I also don't use single coils, so no comment on that, either. But, if you're in need of a pedal that can give some life and character into your old amp (like mine), and you like the sound of BB King and his famous L5 amp, this pedal will certainly get you in the ballpark. And for less than a hundred dollars? Wow. Did the trick for me!

    multi use pedal

    By DAN HARMON

    from Myrtle Creek Or.

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

I bought this pedal for an EQ, but it's so much more than that. The overdrive tones are awesome, and when I stacked it with my other overdrive pedal, it sounded great, and still had warm low end tones. If you turn the gain on to where it just starts to break up, it sounds the best.

    great pedal

    By dale pierce

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

i picked this pedal up this past weekend on a clearance at GC. if you're looking for a high gain thing, this is not your pedal. but if you want a great jazz, country, blues, classic rock pedal this is a great option. it has plenty of volume and can be set to a super clean sparkly tone. something overdrive, distortion, fuzz just won't do. it compresses well, is sensitive to your picking and cleans up too. this is the best pedal for a classic cool jazz tone i have ever come across. dry and punchy. i like.

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

I use it with my Rumble 150 and am able to replicate the sound I have been looking for. I played through the Fender bassman amp when I started playing back in the early seventies. It is a good combo with my Jazz bass and rumble amp.

    Great Pedal!

    By Mexi1543

    from SLC, UT

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

I tried this pedal out at my local Guitar Center and absolutely loved it. Some days later, I found a guy selling it new, but used, for pretty cheap. I love it more and more every time I use it. It's my go-to pedal. I play through an American-made Fender Stratocaster Deluxe and a Fender DeVille 410 (of course I put in some NOS tubes) and I get the most heavenly tones. Turn down the gain on this thing and you get one hot jazz tone. I say, "Buy it!"

    A great modeling pedal

    By Skidds

    from San Jose, CA

Comments about Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Pedal:

This is a great pedal overall. Use it to character your amp, not drive it. The overdrive to me sounds a bit muddy. I own a a 59' Bassman Reissue and a Epiphone Valve Jr. For some small club gigs, I use the bassman. When i do bigger shows, i actually use the Valve JR. the FBM-1 is great because it allows me to character my Valve Jr. to sound very similar to my bassman. Then i use a boss Blues Driver to actually drive in my leads. here is my pedal set up FBM-1-->BD2-->Danelectro Reel Echo-->PT-13 tuner The FBM-1 will definitely get you close to the sound of a real Bassman, you just need to learn to EQ it and you will be fine.
