See if you guys print this.. I used to use a SR-16 and it was easy to use. I wanted to get rid of it because I needed to move on to more options for recording. I boiught the DR-3.. I'm not stupid.. but what the hell? I don't have all week to study this thing. I can't even figure out how to lose the bass. I don't want to "jam", I want to record.I'm surprised that somebody hasn't stepped up to the plate and make a SIMPLE versitile drum machine yet (beyond the sr16)..

Save your money

By Holland

from Virginia

Comments about Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-3:

Save your money!! This is not worth the $179.00 dollars it is sold for. The drums sound like something out of my daughter?s cheap casio keyboard. The base over powers the drums and they also sound not so believable. I am sure that there is a way to lower the base on this thing but I also do not have a week to study the manual. This drum machine is not the best thing on the market so save your money for something better. And yes it is hard to use if you want to make your own music.

Calm down guys

By NepRock

from Denver, CO

Comments about Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-3:

Ok, this is definitely not like a $1000 drum machine but if you guys start plugging it to a bass amp or guitar amp, ofcourse it will sound bad. Use a good mixer and a good set of home speakers. Just hit menu and play around and you will find a lot of features...easy to use. Just hitting the bottons won't do you any good. Know what you're hitting and it'll be good. If you wanna check out the quality of this machine, go to youtube or myspace and search for sailesh shrestha and check out my demos. They are awsome.

this is good stuff

By Stuart jensen

from Murrietta Ca

Comments about Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-3:

yeah it takes a week to learn how to use it but after you learn you can do plenty of things the point is, is that it gets the job done and the reason why he says its sounds like it came out of a casio keyboard is becuse he most likly dident hook it up to a bass amplifier, that makes it sound real good

An excellent addition to ANY studio.

By Dr. Groove

from Bakersfield, CA

Comments about Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-3:

I have owned my DR-3 for 2 years now, and might I say, if you plan on purchasing ANY electronic piece of equipment, you should also plan on reading at least a few pages of the manual and spending some time with the device to learn how to operate it. It won't take a week to learn how to use it if you spend your time wisely. Every thing is layed out logically, with easy access to pretty much everything. As far as the sound and tone quality, when properly mixed, CAN sound like a live kit. I personally like using the user programable patterns, I can make it sound like anything I want. In conclusion, I would recommend the DR-3 to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, good quality drum machine.

A childs Toy.

By PRS Buzz

from nj

Comments about Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-3:

I needed to get a drum machine for my home recording and i thought it would b great that it also had bass added. After here the product 1st hand and reading the reviews I found it to be like a childs toy!! The drums where bad and the bass added was that much worse. Save your money buy a good drum machine and do your own bass recording. Boss does make great products just not his one.(Sorry)

Read the manual. Be happy

By rdjones

from Nevada, USA

Comments about Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-3:

I think its a great little machine. Its very programmable and configurable. You don't generally get this kind of adaptability without making some effort to learn about how to use it. Run it through a decent sound system. I have heard a decent PA system works great. I run mine through and old Magnatone 240SV (its and old 240 watt SS amp with 15" speakers built around 1968 or so. My parents bought it when it was brand new for me with an accordion). and it sounds great through that. Don't like the way the bass sounds? Well, read the manual and you can change that. Like Slap bass? You can make it do that too.
