Overview

The BOSS DD-7 Digital Delay is a guitar effects pedal that takes the best features from its predecessors and expands their creative potential. You get Modulation Delay mode, classic modeled Analog Delay mode, External pedal control options, longer delay time, and more. Even with the best-selling delays in compact-pedal history, BOSS continues to push the envelope and innovate.

Expanded Delay Time

Up to 6.4 seconds of delay time are available with the DD-7, a marked increase from its predecessor. In addition, Hold mode allows up to 40 seconds of input to be recorded for creating "sound on sound" performances.

Delay Modes

The BOSS DD-7 pedal is equipped with two innovative and advanced delay modes. Modulation Delay provides chorus-flavored sounds. Analog Delay offers a modeled simulation of the classic BOSS DM-2, beloved for its characteristic warmth.

External Control

For handsfree control of the DD-7 pedal, an external footswitch and Expression pedal (sold separately) can be used. Tap tempo can be controlled from an external footswitch, while delay time, feedback, and effect level can be changed on the fly via Expression pedal.

Stereo Output

Create amazing effects with the BOSS DD-7 pedal's stereo output, such as spatial audio sweeps via true stereo panning. You can also use the stereo outputs to create separate dry and wet signal paths -- handy for recording and live-performance control.

Features
  • Expanded delay time, up to 6.4 seconds
  • Modulation Delay mode offers natural, chorus-type sounds
  • Analog Delay mode models the classic warm BOSS DM-2 analog delay sound
  • Tap tempo controllable via external footswitch
  • Delay time, feedback, and effect level can be controlled via external Expression pedal (sold separately)

This pedal may not be the most versatile of all delay pedals or the biggest, but it certainly fills all requirements. The analog delay perfectly gets this warm sorta tone and it sounds like the echo from shouting off a mountain. The modulate mode laces your signal with a really sweet sounding chorus sound and it makes your tone perfect no matter what delay time. Reverse probably isn't the most practical mode, but is fun to use, especially if you put the level at halfway, for your regular guitar sound to be followed by it reversed. I've found with this pedal that you can find other uses, such as a ring mod, fast tremolo, and various cool sounds you can get messing with the feedback and delay time. If your into sound manipulation like I am, this pedal is perfect. Once with a song I even created a manipulated beat, kept the feedback really high and turned the pedal off so I could play over the beat. all in all, it's a great pedal. really nice tone and it isn't noisy at all. oh and the loop function is convenient.

This delay quit on me 1 day after I bought it. When it worked it was pretty sweet. I returned this and went with an MXR Carbon Copy (analog delay). Less options but I think it should be more robust. The Boss delay seemed a bit delicate what with a 'power your pedal up first and then your amp and do the reverse when powering down' (excerpt from the instruction manual). The DD7 has a lot of features and sounds it will produce for you but I was lucky enough (NOT!) to get one with a latent defect (electronically). PS- PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THE FEEDBACK KNOB. IF YOU HAVE IT CRANKED TO FAR CLOCKWISE - YOUR EARS WILL BLEED (KEEP THE VOLUME DOWN WHEN PLAYING WITH THIS FEATURE).

Comments about Boss DD-7 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Still the A number 1 for digital delays. I've owned three different versions of Boss' digital delays and all of them have been great. This is one is loaded with features, the most useful being an input for an external tap tempo pedal. The Hold feature is great for creating small loops, although you can't use the delay features at the same time as the looper. It has crystal clean repeats in digital mode and decently warm repeats in the analog mode. I use this in combination with a MXR Carbon Copy, so I rarely if ever use the analog mode. It's built like a tank and uses a small footprint on the pedal board. It eats batteries like a newborn baby drinks milk, so you're better off using a power adapter. The range of repeats will keep the knob twisters busy forever, so be prepared to spend so time getting to know it. Overall great investment and very happy with it.

Comments about Boss DD-7 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is a beginner's holy grail. It gives a multitude of variations and options for an extremely low price. The Boss DD-7 greatly outperforms other pedals in this price range such as the MXR Carbon Copy and the Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy. The only other pedal that would match this would be the TC Electronic Flashback, which is slightly more expensive. Bottom line is, this pedal should be anyone's first dealy pedal.

Comments about Boss DD-7 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I hadn't used a delay box before, and this one is fun to use. One reason I got it is because it has a reverse function and will record your riff, and loop it in reverse, without tape. There are multiple delay options. The price is very reasonable for everything this unit can do.

Comments about Boss DD-7 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Boss DD7 is an awesome delay pedal. Had this thing for about two years now and this thing is built like a tank (As well as other Boss pedals) I like the dotted eighth & Analog settings the best. There is also an integrated looper that works great for songwriting or practicing. The Tap tempo works well with all quarter inch switches such as sustain pedals for pianos. Bottom line is that it is compact and sounds good. I would recommend this pedal to a beginner looking to purchase their first delay pedal.

Comments about Boss DD-7 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a ligit pedal very good for strait delay. It's a solid live pedal like all boss instruments but I have to look at the big picture. The nova delay and the line 6 DL4 have SOOOO many more features that the Price of this pedal just seems way to big. If your a delay adict go for the DL4 but if your just looking for a simple, solid delay pedal this one is GREAT.

Comments about Boss DD-7 Digital Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was looking this past week for the perfect pedal to be able to play a dotted 8th note delay on. I finally found the Boss DD-5 but found out they stopped making them a while back so I tried out this one and this baby does it, plus more. I haven't even messed with the other features yet but that should be fun! I just bought it today and love it so I recommend it to anyone trying to get that nice U2 delay sound or just a regular dotted 8th note delay. I'm sure it can do way more delays then I'm describing so go try it out and enjoy!
