This pedal has so many great delays it it. You can get any type of delay you want out of it. I would recommend buying a tap tempo for it, I just bought an M-Audio keyboard sustain pedal, and it works great for it. You can also use the right pedal for tap, but it toggles in between memory and tap, so its best to not have to hold the pedal down for 2 seconds to switch it. That is probably the worst part about the pedal, is the holding down part. A sustain pedal fixes that. As for the looping SOS mode, it works well, but I tried this and a Line 6 DL4, and the DL4 was a lot easier to use for looping, and had a few extra looping features, like the option to turn of your loop and save it to play later in the song. The delay features were very inferior to the Giga Delay. So here's my advice: If you're mainly looking for a delay pedal, buy this. If you're mainly looking for a looping pedal, buy the Line 6.

I have used my friends' DD20 quite frequently over the past 2 years or so. I love it and love the delays that it gives you, but it is not very user-friendly when it comes to playing with it live on stage. It's a pain switching from one preset to a different one mid-song, which I tend to do a lot. This pedal was not for me. After playing with this and using a DL4 for a couple of years I decided neither of those were for me. If you want a great pedal I recommend the Eventide Timefactor.

Sexy Delay

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

Yeah So I bought this pedal a while back and did not have much money and basically had to cut back on eating to buy this pedal. I know now I made a wise sacrifice. This pedal is such a sexy pedal. It will fatten up your tone a ton! It is a warmer sound than the DD5 or Line 6 and has more options the other Boss delays. It is definately stage friendly with its 4 preset capabilities. It gives you control over the sound to which is nice. I feel naked playing without it. I am looking into running another delay pedal through it to get some really insane Delay. Also the tap tempo in it is good but I am thinking abou using a FS-5U or a FS-5L through the external tap tempo because you have to wait a couple of seconds for the tap tempo on it so I will just run the optional foot control through it to be a bit faster on stage. Overall Buy this pedal! You wont regret it!

Great pedal or pedals?

By tietjen

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

Boss DD-20 Giga Delay. Sweet pedal, solid as a rock. Sounds great but not as good as the dl4 (by a small margin). If you are worried about the reliability issues of the DL4 then buy the DD-20... you won't regret it.

Boss DD-20 Giga Delay

By jimmy-blue

from West Valley, UT

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

My experience with this pedal has been extremely pleasant! I have used this pedal for several months now, and have found it to be the best delay pedal out of the many I have tried over the past few years. With control over note (whole note, half note, etc), tempo, and type of delay settings, you can accomplish vitually any delay sound and enhance any genre of music. Using the tap function, you can adjust instantly to the tempo of the song being played or those around you smoothly and seamlessly. The SOS (Sound On Sound) feature is EXCELLENT for developing second or even third guitar parts, as you can actually use multiple shorts loops to play over. Once you record a loop, hold down the pedal again while playing another guitar part and it will loop over the last riff/chord progression played. You can repeat this as many times as you want! I recommend this pedal to ANY guitarist. It would even benefit a bassist. The Edge from U2 in fact has a custom made rackmount version of this very pedal. Don't waste time going through lesser pedals like I did - start with one that you can stick with for good. For the quality and features of this pedal, it really is a screaming deal.

Best delay pedal

By Darren

from Undisclosed

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

In my search for delays, I chose this mostly because of its functionality. Other delays were either too limited in the sounds they produced, or they weren't so user-friendly. I really stay away from the Boss pedal thing, but these double pedals are in a different class. Here you get any delay sound you want and then some extra sounds. The delay time is as long as you need it, and they all sound very good. The analog delays are good emulations and you also get some extras, like Warp, Twist, ad SOS. The first two you won't use much, but they're there. SOS is very cool when you get the hang of it. I've found that this is very easy to use in the middle of performances. Tap tempo works well, and you have 3 settings on how you want the two pedals to function. Once you're locked into tempo, you can switch note value of the delay, say from quarter notes to whole notes. When you switch between programs, there is no noise and your delay tails aren't chopped off. This also has all the ins and outs you need. Basic operation makes sense, and some of the subtle things are easy to figure out. I would add just a few things to this to make it perfect. The ability to use a delay in SOS mode, because if you want to loop a delayed sound, you need another delay pedal. Also with the LEDs that show you which preset is active it is hard to tell which one is lit up in relation to the others. Lastly, MIDI would be nice. Otherwise, I have been very happy with this on my pedal board (last in the chain) and it has become a big part of my guitar sound.

The best yet

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

I have tried several delay pedals and none of them comes close to the Boss DD-20. You won't find a delay pedal out there that has the features and craftsmanship of this one. The possibilities are endless with this pedal. With 11 different delay modes and memory capability you owe it to yourself to check this pedal out.

Props to Boss

By Levi

from Georgetown, Ky

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

This is a cool delay pedal that should be on any person's rig who requires delay. I'll start with the small amount of bad. It is a larger pedal, so it takes about the space of 2 1/2 regular boss pedals, but the sacrifice it worth it. I am not sure, but I do not believe it is true bypass if that is an issue for you. It also takes 6 AA batteries to power it. Now for the awesomeness of the pedal. It has 40 seconds of looping time. It is great for the little I IV V chord songs that are repetitive. It has 11 delay types that are pretty cool. I was able to figure out everything pretty quick, and I have never owned a delay. It is built like a tank. The knobs feel solid and the pedals themselves feel sturdy. I should also mention that it doesn't change the pitch when you move the buttons while sustaining a note. The many different kinds of delay are fun to mess around with. Twist makes a note sound like an engine. The warp does some sort of a volume swell thingy that is hard to describe. Tape, analog, and standard delays are "copies" of other Boss delays that were once sold. Dual and Pan modes are kinda interesting. Dual allow you to use "two" delays at once. It allows you to set "one delay" to 300 milliseconds and the "other delay" to 500 milliseconds. Smooth kinda sound like it would be used in funk music. It is like a standard delay with some slight oomf. Modulate is pretty cool sounding, especially for country (when played with compression) or rock (when played with distortion). Reverse is a cool mode because it sound like something "techno" when you play it with the right notes. Overall, it is one cool pedal. I highly recommend it to anyone that has the cash to buy it and really likes delay.

So much delay that it should be a crime!

By JET

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

This has so much delay that it should be Illegal! Boss makes the best digital delay on the market. The DD20 is PACKED with settings (from warp, tape, analog, etc) This will be the last delay pedal that i buy. Its very clean, straight up delay. I can't say enough about it. THE best digital delay on the market. if it has so much delay that it should be illegal then itd be a felony not to pick one up.

Nice bang for your buck

By RochesterLoner

from Upstate NY

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

$180 is a lot of cash, but this is a lot of pedal. I have a few nice analog delays, and the analog emulation settings on this unit compare favorably to those pedals. The delays aren't quite as rich and complex, but then again, you can do ten things with this pedal that you can't do with a real analog delay. I wish it had true bypass, and I wish it did the "spaceship" thing. Also, I really don't like how the blinking light won't turn off unless you unplug it! These are minor complaints, though. I tried several analog emulating digital delays, and this is the one to get.

Best Delay Pedal that Programs

By Michael

from Birmingham, Alabama

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

Okay guys, the dd-20 is hands down the best programable delay. The line-6 can store 3 settings, while the dd-20 can do 5 presets. Here's the best part for my needs, I play 5 song sets at church and normally would have to tap tempo in each beat, BUT with the DD-20, it allows you to set the delay with the knob to the bpm(beats per minute) and store each one. Duh, this means it gives you a perfect tap tempo every time! It has tap tempo, but i dont even need it and it is much warmer sounding than the dl4, though it doesn't have as many sounds. I am extremely picky about tone and this is the best digital delay out there for what I do. I hope this helps!

For Those Who Need A Fuller Sound

By Clayton

from Traverse City, Mi

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

This delay has done wonders for filling out my sound. I play guitar in a rock band, and adding this pedal to my arsenal is more than worth the expensive price tag. If you can afford it, get it! Also, just as with any guitar pedal, allow yourself some serious time to learn how to use this thing. The more you play with it and figure it out, the more you'll learn to really aprechiate it. Unlike other delay pedals, this adds a richness and quality that you'll never belive you ever lived without. My only complaint is that sometimes the delay can be too loud, and I want a faint "in the backround" delay, but I'm sure there's a way to twaek it. Like I said, do your homework once you buy this, and you won't be sorry! Awesome pedal.

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

The Boss DD-20 is simply the best digital delay pedal on the market. It has a plethora of modes, is very easy to use and has a huge delay time! At the new price, this is the only digital delay worth buying.

It's fun...

By DURIN THORNTON

from Houston, TX

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

It?s complicated to use and I can?t tell the difference between several of the delays, but it?s still fun to play with. I can also imaging that in a gigging environment it would be a pain to use, but as I sit on the floor in front of it experimenting with all my sounds. It?s not that big a hassle for me. All though for ease of use and gig effectiveness

A Great Investment

By Here's Johnny

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

I'm in a U2 cover band and of course delay is a must. I tried out the other branded pedals even those that the sales try to push only because they were out of the DD20. Needless to say, I had to go online to get it because it was sold out in the southwest reigon. Get this pedal!

best delay pedal ever!

By solodude59

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

I use this pedal with a ds-2 going thru a 1976 marshall master lead combo. the combinations of delay are infinite! the dd-20 has every kind of delay available! on the tape delay setting, you can even adjust where the tape heads are (individually timed). i havent figured out how or where to use the twist effect yet lol (really weird sound). the warp is great for the end of songs, it amplifies the volume and gain! two thumbs up!

Won't Need Another Kind For A Long Time

By Garrett Thomas

from Rock Hill, SC

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

Great delay pedal! I chose this over the Line 6 DL-4 because I like how it works compared to the DL-4. Fantastic delay sounds, I primarily use the Dual mode, with some good old fashioned digital delay and tape delay thrown in for good measure. Switching between Tap Tempo and Memory can get a little confusing, just pay attention and you'll be fine. I'll probably get an expression pedal soon and eliminate that aspect all together. All in all, great pedal.

Delay Delight

Comments about Boss DD-20 Giga Delay:

This is the second DD-20 I have owned, and I have loved it both times. The first time, I used it as a rhythm guitarist in a band and it held up beautifully. This delay works great with acoustic and electric guitars and has enough features to keep you interested for years of fun!
