I wanted a metronome that did more than just tap, but I didn't want a crazy drum machine, either. This little thing is perfect and it didn't empty my wallet. It does a lot and it's very easy to use. It has several different rhythm patterns, none are programmable, but that's ok, I don't want to waste my musical talents making up beats on a metronome, not to mention practice time. It has a stereo output which is great, especially if your amp is stereo. I use the behringer gmx 212. This is a very simple tool, there's not alot to say, it works. If you need something to keep time with that's not boring, but you don't want to be confused by a bunch of features then you should get this. That's it.

Fantastic pocket metronome - louder than the Korg MA-30

By Chase

from PA

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

This is a great little metronome. It produces a decently loud volume and comes with great standard features such as sub-divisions and tap-in (tap a button to a particular tempo to set the metronome to that tempo). As the title suggests, this is a louder metronome than the blue Korg MA-30 (though not by much). Overall, it's a great tool and gets the job done well.

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

This is a great starter metronome. Easy to use, very easy to get started with it. It works, right out of the box! For fist timers, I'd really suggest the Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat.

great little device

By Bobahlouie

from Austin, Texas

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

Looked a long time to find a simple device that didn't have an annoying electronic click or beep. This device is expensive but probably still worth it if you practice a lot. Small and lightweight, adjustable volume, lots of beat and rhythm options. Great for practicing scales, etc. Battery life is great. If it had a built in tuner it would be 5 stars. It can output a tone at given frequency, but I haven't found that feature all that useful since the tone isn't very pure. I still reach for my tuner for fast re-tune.

good stuff

By Cody

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

For a basic Metronome, its worth the money. If only it was a bit louder..but still gets the job done, even at live events for me being a drummer.

Best in class

By K

from Oslo Norway

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

This is a fine unit and does most of what you want out of a metronome. It has a fair number of beat options (9 alltogether) which is nice, and it even has clave in 2 varieties (Not often seen at this price), which can be quite useful. But then Boss has always been ahead of the competition in this regard. It also has a very respectable number of time signatures available, which is really what sold me on the DB-30. Only real downside (aside from not being probramable, which you can't expect at this price) is that it uses an expensive watch type battery ($5.00 ea.) when it could easily have been designed for a triple a. All in all this seems to be the best in its class by a fairly wide margin. There are definately things this won't do, but as long as you are not completely off the map it will likely work well for you.

Amazing little device :)

By Adamosaur

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

This thing is great, perfect for practicing odd beats for jazz, and keeping time playing or practicing with the band. Go out and buy one now!! Low price, and really sweet metronome. I've been using it for about 3 weeks and the little battery it came with is still going strong.

A must have item for any musician

By Gio

from Navarre, FL

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

I use this metronome for keeping my timing while drumming which is crucial for any drummer. This metronome has all the essentials for getting a good practice session. You can change your tempo fairly quick and change your time signatures. It also has a volume control and a nice display if want you want to keep your timing visually. The only minor problem is that it's not loud enough for me as a drummer. I don't smash into my drum set when I play but the metronome sound seems to be washed out while I'm playing. The solution to that is simple as long as you have a set of earphones to plug into your metronome. Other than that, it's a nice, simple metronome.

What a great little metronome!

By Tony Riedl

from Eugene, OR

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

I was looking for a simple metronome that was rhythm and beat variable and most importantly had the "Tap" feature to be able to quickly catalog tempos at rehearsal. This thing is small, but produces a sound that is plenty audible while playing guitar next to it, as well as a cool looking digital reproduction of a metronome swinging back and forth on the screen. With this you get both an auditory and visual cue for tempo. I think it's the best bang for your buck and the most practical for its size. Pick one up!

Comments about Boss DB-30 Dr. Beat Metronome:

I purchased this because software analysis of some material was having issues detecting the proper tempo. I wanted something that was quick to reach for and I could use fairly easily. I found the tap tempo to not function as well as I would have hoped, but it got me in the ballpark, I can adjust up and down until I get the right tempo.

Though I haven't used them, I do like the fact that it is able to change rhythms.

For what I purchased it for, it does fine.
