The new BOSS BC-2 Combo Drive guitar overdrive pedal generates a classic "AC-inspired" British combo-amp tone in a compact pedal, but that's just the starting point. With a single knob, you can instantly control a variety of sound-character parameters, and quickly tap into a full spectrum of tone. Achieve the perfect vintage sound or dial into higher gain or cleaner tone across a wider frequency range than the classic amp could provide on its own. The BC-2 Combo Drive also offers a natural and dynamic response to your picking nuances at any setting. This easy-to-use yet technically complex pedal takes you from authentic vintage tone to expanded new-generation performance and sound.

The BC-2 Combo Drive's SOUND knob adjusts multiple parameters simultaneously across a range of zones. Smoothly transition from fat and clean tone in left zone to high-impact crunch in the upper zone and high-gain distortion in the right zone. Find the perfect classic setting or go beyond previous limits. Crank the SOUND knob to the DRIVE position, for example, and get a creamier high-gain tone than the classic combo could provide, as if you were driving the amp with an external booster. Likewise, if you turn the knob to the CLEAN position, you can clean up the tone across a wider frequency range than the original amp could deliver. A universe of great tone is as simple as a single knob twist.

Dedicated EQ knobs are provided for instantly sculpting your tone. The BASS knob provides direct control of the lower-frequency range; the TREBLE knob provides control of upper frequencies. A master LEVEL knob controls the overall volume of the pedal when it is turned on.

The input jack accepts signals from a guitar, another musical instrument, or another effect unit. This jack also doubles as the power switch. Power to the unit is turned on when you plug into the INPUT jack; the power is turned off when the cable is unplugged.

No way!!!

By Neil Kraft

from Toledo, ohio

I was really looking forward to trying out this pedal, after seeing the few YouTube demo/reviews I was very impressed with what I heard and was practically ready to blindly buy it online. The guitar center guys set me up with everything I needed to demo this pedal, I was treated like royalty. No matter how I set the amp, guitar, or pedal I could not get the combo drive pedal to sound good to me, or even like the videos I saw on YouTube. I was mostly looking forward to the one on one with this pedal because there weren't very many video reviews and I never saw any of the reviews max out the gain knob. In conclusion I was very disappointed. ????? Is this pedal digital?????? That may have something to do with my disliking as I've found another new boss pedal unsatisfactory in tone and performance (Power Stack).

Good Sound but missing something.

By Hussnain Bokhari

from New Jersey

It has good tone, but additional volume control knob for clean sound is missing or my suggestion is that this pedal when connected but turned off should give out clean British tone and then crunch or Distortion when turned on. The volume of clean sound is very low in comparison to the crunch or distortion and there is only one knob to serve volume control for all types of sound. Playing live is difficult to play with volume know if you want both British clean tone and crunch or British Distortion. Other than that I like the sound of it both clean and distortion.

Versatile "Vox in a Box" tone - clean and distorted!

By Jeffrey Homuth

from Twin Cities, MN

Wanted to review the Boss BC-2 Combo Drive and thank the helpful staff at the Edina (MN) Guitar Center for letting me demo out the pedal with the exact equipment I have at home! This pedal does a great job emulating classic Vox tones of The Beatles, The Edge (U2), and Brian May (Queen). It is not simply a distortion pedal - it's more of a Vox amp emulator, but I don't feel they've done a good enough job explaining that! With the Sound knob counter-clockwise, you get a clean or clean-boost sound with little or no breakup. Much like a tube amp, you can then start to gradually break up that tone. With the knob in the "Crunch" or "Drive" zones, the pedal can actually become extremely high gain - it can absolutely rock! One of the best new pedals from BOSS in awhile (along with the Power Stack and Dyna Drive).

Great Stomp

By Joel Sheppard

from Columbus, Ohio

I originally wanted to get the Digitech Distortion Factory, but pretty much hating all of their stomps, I really wanted the same concept of versatility in a higher quality pedal. After watching a few Youtube videos of this thing in action, I went ahead and bought it. I was absolutely blown away! It can do everything from a sparkly clean sound to crunchy overdrive to high gain distortion with the turn of one knob. With the sound knob dimed, it is incredible for metal and pick harmonics (squeals), which I find myself doing more of since I bought it. I was unsure of this before I bought it because it was just introduced to the market and I really didn't see many reviews about it. It is also great for finding that tone that is just "yours," due to the versatility of the pedal. So if you are thinking of buying this, make room on your pedalboard and go for it! You won't be disappointed!

A really keeper! Versatile!

By Carlos Naufel

from Brazil

The distortion of this pedal is amazing!! Creamy with tons of overtones and harmonics when at full drive. Very responsive to the pick attack. The distortion is really clear and tight. Artificial harmonics is a breeze to get from this pedal (even with single coils!!!) Very hot...I really recommend it! The look and feel of the pedal is great and very easy to set up. I owned dozens of distortion;drive pedals. This one is a keeper!
