I use multiple guitars in my performances. I have a Martin Acoustic, an acoustic classical guitar, and a modified Fender squire (Roland GT-3) which I process and mix through a Roland GR-20 to provide richer orchestral and pad effects. The AD-3, with it's simplicity of effects is actually quite simple, despite its numerous knobs, etc. Just what I needed--indepemndent effects for each guitar.
The Boss AD-3 was a great investment. It made my $300 guitar sound like a $1500 guitar! The chorus gives such a full rich flavor. If this pedal had a tuner and XLR out it would be the ultimate beast for its price! Even without that it is a worthy investment until you can by a $1500 guitar. If you need a tuner try the Korg pitchblack chromatic tuner.
I was completely astonished by the amazing sound quality that I obtained with this pedal! I play several gigs with my buds and weekly at my church and for 3 years I have been looking for a good tone without having to spend an arm and a leg for a great guitar... with this pedal I found it. I play a Takamine G series acoustic (nothing special), but I have found that with running this pedal through my crate tube amp I get a sound that can rival a Taylor. This pedal has a built in acoustic guitar amplifier simulator designed to run through electric guitar amps with superb sound. So, match this pedal with and decent tube amp and you will be in for a treat! I can only imagine what it would be like running a Taylor through it! Excellent BUY!
I picked up the AD-3 to add richness to my accoustic sound while performing at church; I felt that much of that great accoustic 'warmness' is lost through all the wattage. The AD-3 was perfect in rounding out my sound, and the reverb and chorus combination was perfect in adding those finer aspects to tonal tuning. I haven't put the anti-feedback aspect to the test, yet though - more to come on that! All in all, a worthwhile investment for a travelling accoustic player.
If you are playing your acoustic guitar directly through a sound system, you'll never get better sound even with a expensive acoustic guitar amp. The chorus is great, the reverb is rich and deep. I highly recommend it.
