Choose overdrive or distortion, or combine both! The Boss OS-2 has integrated circuitry that gives you more options and provides hard distortion while maintaining the nuances of single-coil pickups.
This is a great pedal. I have owned it for about 6 months and I never get tired of what I can do with it. If you want distortion you've got it, although when cranked to just distortion it gives you an early Metallica sound. When just over drive its warm and and heavy. the only draw back is that sometimes when strumming it can be a tad muffled. If you mixed them together its a nice heavy distortion. I use it mainly for distortion but will add a bit of overdrive to fatten out the sound and bring a little more bass. Over all this a great pedal and if you need versatility I highly recommend it.

For starters, the Boss OS-2 pedal has more features than most pedals for the price. Also, it's Boss, it will never break. In most cases, it provides sufficient distortion. However, with my Gibson SG/Marshall Valvestate, it seems as though I can not always get the desired distortion. Also, if my amp is not loud, the overdrive is very crunchy and not clean. I recommend this pedal for anywhere from light distortion to a heavy crunch overdrive, i.e. ACDC. However, anything more, you may want to mix the distortion from your amp with the pedal or upgrade to a metal pedal. Any questions, email me.

Wide variety of sounds with this pedal. You can get thick overdrive or hot distortion. This pedal is really versitial. The sound quality is excellent. As with all Boss pedals it is very well made and will last. Let's your guitar still be heard. I would recommend this pedal to anyone and if my was stolen I would buy another one the next day.

The Boss OS-2 the perfect sound that I've been looking for, and at Guitar Center for an Unbelievable price!!! I use a Fender tube amp, and the onboard overdrive wasn't focused enough, but I wasn't looking for a crazy metal distortion. This pedal can dial in any blend of overdrive body and cutting distortion highs that I can dream up...and only $70! Boss makes the most solid and reliable pedals around, and this one is no exception.
