  • Boss ME-50 effects

As reviewed by Xan Nixon on 10/23/2006

This effects pedal has some good sounds in it. I wasnt disappointed with them. The one thing to consider is that when you hit the switches there is a small delay between sounds and I did not like that. It wasnt good for gigs so I got rid of it. Other than that it was a fine effects pedal.

  • Good Choice

As reviewed by LukeMomp on 9/27/2006

As an experienced guitarist, I concider this effects box or peddal one of the best there is to choose from. The sounds you can create from it are virtually unlimited. I especially enjoy using Wah Wah, reverb, and all of the distortion and overdrive choices. Mix a few together and you have an incredible sound! Also, the great price deal is one of a kind! It's hard to find such an incredible piece of equiptment that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! I personally recomend this item.

  • Not a good live petal

As reviewed by thegetch1 on 5/17/2007

I bought this a few years back when I was fairly inexperienced in terms of effects for guitar. I had for years just used my amp's reverb, chorus, and distortion. So, I bought this thinking I'd save some money over buying many effects pedals and I'd have a lot of options. The quality is decent. Like other reviews, there are quite a few types of distortion, but none have that ummph, if you know what I mean. The mod effects are pretty good no complaints there. The wah is difficult because it doubles as volume control. So, if you set the height of the petal to the desired volume, but then need to go into wah, the volume goes up and when you step the wah on, the volume stays high. You can work around this by setting the master volume lower and the pedal volume all the way up, but then you don't have volume swells. Lastly, you can save up to 30 custom effects-combos in the banks. Trouble is that when switching between them there is a second delay. Not cool live when trying to go from clean to distortion on the downbeat and it sounds like you missed it. I actually don't use the banks live for this reason. I typically use the banks for recording, but that leads to problems because I have to rewrite the effects for songs when I do them live. So, if you're not really sure what sound you want and need some place to start, this is a great petal. It has taught me what I like and dislike so in the future I can buy specific petals to define my sound.
