Not a good live petal
I bought this a few years back when I was fairly inexperienced in terms of effects for guitar. I had for years just used my amp's reverb, chorus, and distortion. So, I bought this thinking I'd save some money over buying many effects pedals and I'd have a lot of options. The quality is decent. Like other reviews, there are quite a few types of distortion, but none have that ummph, if you know what I mean. The mod effects are pretty good no complaints there. The wah is difficult because it doubles as volume control. So, if you set the height of the petal to the desired volume, but then need to go into wah, the volume goes up and when you step the wah on, the volume stays high. You can work around this by setting the master volume lower and the pedal volume all the way up, but then you don't have volume swells. Lastly, you can save up to 30 custom effects-combos in the banks. Trouble is that when switching between them there is a second delay. Not cool live when trying to go from clean to distortion on the downbeat and it sounds like you missed it. I actually don't use the banks live for this reason. I typically use the banks for recording, but that leads to problems because I have to rewrite the effects for songs when I do them live. So, if you're not really sure what sound you want and need some place to start, this is a great petal. It has taught me what I like and dislike so in the future I can buy specific petals to define my sound.

Finally a ME pedal that doesnt sound digital
I am so glad I bought this. If you have had bad experiences with multi effects pedals that sound like your old Windows 3.1 sound card, then look no more. It is really just every, I mean every Boss pedal you could ever want strung together, with all the quality of the individual pedals. I actually own alot of Boss pedals and I've compared them. You can really slim down your pedal board with this. And it is so easy to use, exactly like using the pedals themselves, no instructions needed. Thank you Boss, for making a decent ME pedal at the cost of practically 3 peadals.

PURE ANALOG TONE FOR LIVE AND RECORDING USE
I have used this thing countless times live and for recording. Sounds absolutely amazing plug straight into the PA or from the ME50 to a amp then to a PA. Sounds awesome. The distortion was surprisingly EXCELLENT and so were the effects. Oh and the WAH is incredibly!! Buy this and you won't look back!!

Bang for your Bcuk!
You get everything in this thing! Do not hesitate in buying this i've played it many a time and it has the full package. You get wammy, the heavy metal crunch. This thing can make a 1-year guitar player sound like Eddie Van Halen. It is also a whole lot cheaper than getting all the effects this holds seperatly. So what if it is digital, so is everything else.

Great buy
I got this pedal because they told me was the best. They were right. The lead guitarist at my church owns one too. We love it, easy to handle, so many different sounds. Price is great for this beauty.
