Look to start off i just want to say i love Boss Pedals and they make up a very large chunk of my pedal board. That being said I was dissapointed in this pedal. I have, like many others, been searching for a distortion pedal for a long time that covers a wide range well and I can get my sound out of, this is not it. The MD-2 has a very low, unpleasant muddy sound, even with little distortion, gain, or tone. If you play Nu Metal, and solely want a pedal for that genre ONLY, than this is the pedal for you. But I know that not many people only play that, and you could get a much better distortion for the same price. I am returning this thing tomorrow because the tone frankly sucks and doesn't do much at all. Not Recommended
Its a very good pedal for its purpose. The distortion sounds excellent for a wide variety of music so if you play anything from metal to punk, this is a great pedal for you. The only thing i didnt like is that if your amp is loud enough, then there's really heavy, piercing feedback if the pedal is on and you arent playing. So you have to turn off the pedal whenever you arent playing, which can be difficult if you're playing a song that has short little breaks in it.
Ok, I tried it at my local GC. Sounded ok through the little practice amp. My mistake, I should have tried it through my normal amp. I wanted a pedal that would give me a range of distortion and I guess it does if you like going from fuzzy to muddy. I plugged into my Marshall VS 100 and it just sounded too muddled. I could'nt get the sound of the chords out of my Les Paul right. If you're into that type of fuzzy buzzing distortion then this is for you, but if you're like me and want a cleaner less grainy distortion, go with something else...I'm sure it wasn't the quality, Boss makes great stuff. My fault I guess, it says Mega-Distortion right on the box...
