vesitile for every guitarist
This pedal is awesome, I can play a bunch of different styles with one pedal. It has raw distortion and lighter side if needed. I would recomend buying a boss adapter because this pedal goes though batteries quite quickly. Awesome pedal I really recomend it.

KILLER TONE FOR CHEAP PIRCE!
When I bought the pedal 3 years ago I didn't know what to expect. Was I going to like it or would it just suck like most other pedals. Well the first time I plugged it in, I was amazed at what came out of my amp. The tone was the best I've ever heard. This pedal is probably the best pedal I've ever used and I still use it after 3 years. It my favorite pedal on my pedal board and the most used. Ohh and by the way, the pedal was so good.....I was able to play Cradle Of Filth on a damn Strat alright. That proves how great this pedal is.

Great distortion pedal for the price!
I have owned this pedal for about five months now, and I really like it. It's great for when I'm in my room, just messing around. But when turned up to full band practice volume, it gives some very bad feedback. But I've found turning the Tone knob to about 9 - 12 o'clock really helps. It's not the greatest distortion pedal in the world, but everyone has to start somewhere. Not everybody has the money to buy 90+ dollar pedals. So it's a great pedal for the price, but if you have a little more money, I'd invest in the DS2. The DS1 is a great pedal for low volume playing, but at high volume, it can get really annoying with the feedback.
Even through all of this, you will get the bang for your buck!

Decent Pedal
This pedal is pretty much the staple of every guitarist. Almost every guitarist owns one of these pedals sometime in their career.
In my opinion, this pedal is not that great by itself. If you use it into a solid state amp it will usually sound very shrill and tinny. Use it in a tube amp however, and this thing will scream.
I've found that I like this pedal a lot better if I use it for a lead boost rather than my main distortion/overdrive. This pedal has a ton of treble so it works great for a high end boost to cut thru the mix in a live situation.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, this is a Boss pedal, so it is pretty much indestructable.

The Best Cheap Distortion Pedal
If you are looking for a good distortion pedal, yet you don't want to go crazy with the 2,000 dallars, and are hoping to keep it under 100 dollars, the the Boss DS-1 is for you.
This is stacked for just one pedal that is only 40 bucks, and it is a great beginner pedal. Beginners: If you only own one chord, then you have to buy another.
This distortion pedal has adjustable thickness, and the scales range is very large.
Overall: A really good cheap distortion pedal.
