A compact pedal that delivers perfect distortion tones in every register.

Powered by Multi-Dimensional Processing technology (MDP), the DA-2 Adaptive Distortion delivers ideal distortion tones wherever you play on the guitar neck.

Multi-Dimensional Processing for Superior Tone
Roland's innovative Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) analyzes audio signals in many dimensions and applies ideal effects to each. By giving different dynamic changes relative to the input signal in real time, MDP can create bold, all-new sounds with a previously unattainable range of expression.

DA-2: Ideal Distortion Across Your Guitar's Entire Range
Unlike standard distortion pedals that process the entire guitar signal with one effect, the DA-2's Multi-Dimensional Processing employs multiple distortion processors to seamlessly adapt the sound in real time and create the ideal tone for every register. As a result, the DA-2 delivers a rich, musical distortion that plays well all over the neck, from tight, edgy low-string tones to fat, smooth highs for lead playing. With the power of MDP, the DA-2's distortion is dramatically responsive to your playing dynamics, and every note is heard with clarity and definition.

BOSS hit a homerun with this pedal!! No matter which guitar I play with (Fender Strat with single coils, Gibson V with EMG 81/85s, Gibson Les Paul Custom with stock passive humbuckers) or amp (Marshall tube Halfstack, Fender Ultra Chorus solid-state 2x12), this thing is incredible! I have several distortion and OD pedals (boutique and mass-produced), which I've used over the years to try and get that 'perfect tone'. I am finally content. This thing delivers great lows and fantastic highs at the exact same time. When you hit a chord, whether the distortion level knob is cranked or not, the every note (in the chord) is articluated. Even cranked, the thing doesn't get muddy at all. I can't wait to play this thing live, it's gonna blow everyone away! Even the 'boutique pedal lovers' will be impressed with this stombox. Grab one, you won't be disappointed.

  • Meet the new BOSS

As reviewed by RUSSELL on 12/4/2014

Boss really did a decent job on this pedal. I also own the classic DS-1 and this pedal picks up right where that one left off. Where the DS-1 is more of a classic Marshall type of distortion I think this pedal has more of a modern style. I am amazed at the clarity of all the strings even when the distortion is cranked. Many other pedals that I have tend to get muddier as the gain is increased and attempting to play an open chord is useless, with this thing you can hear every note perfectly. The pedal has knobs that control the bass and treble and they are very responsive. The pedal does great tones from low gain all the way to Metal territory...I think I may have found the perfect distortion pedal.

  • This is all that you need, fully adjustable. The BOSS MDP is great!

As reviewed by DAVID BROWN on 4/19/2014

I recently bough a new Gibson Les Paul from Guitar Center, and I have a Marshall amp that I recently bought. I had been looking for a particular sound, but didn't find it until the DA-2. The new multidimensional processor does what the reviews say that it does. It can distort a chord without taking the identity away from each note. If you are looking for an adjustable, great sounding distortion, look no further.
