get that amazing sound
I play a lot of lead work in a metal band, and I tended to get washy sound. The sound tended to be a mush. I just got this pedal today, (haven't finished adjusting it)and already noticed a change in the sound. Even with all the distortion/overdrive (boss metal zone) I use, the the low tuned chords articulate very well. A little messing with it and you can get a great pro quality sound.

THE core source of tone!
I've had this pedal for about a month now, and it has expanded my capability 10 fold. I play through an all tube amp and it sounds amazing. From that perfect Stevie Ray Vaughan blues tone to a nasty overdrive/sustain, i get everything i want with the turn of a dial. I can hold bends forever, and from now on wouldn't be caught dead without it on my pedal board.

Sustain with this!
I own the CS-2 (two of them, actually), the predecessor of the CS-3, but have tried the CS-3 to compare. The CS-3 does a great job sustaining your chords and really brings out some color to your playing. I place it right after my phaser and right before my distortion pedals to get the job done right and once you try it out, you won't want to turn it off!

BOSS does it again.
This is a great compression pedal. The CS-3 gives you that great fuzzy punch that appears in so many classic sounds. Very noisy as with all BOSS pedals. Don't forget your noise reduction pedal!
The features are outstanding as is also the norm with BOSS products. You could probably drop one of these off a building and do no damage to it. BOSS pedals are an investment that will last you a lifetime.

Sounds Great!!
This pedal is great, it just takes time to appreciate it. Upon first using it I could hear changes in my sound, but I wasn't sure whether it was worth the $90. After having it for several weeks I realized how much I truly liked the CS-3. I use it almost always now with a delay to give me the powerful attack and smooth sustain to rip out impressive-sounding, full-bodied blues leads. However, this pedal is not meant to be used with distortion/overdrive pedals (because the soundwaves are already somewhat compressed from the distortion unit anywho). Overall, I give it two thumbs up, I don't think I would ever play without it!

It's good for clean....nothing more.
I guess I used it for the wrong type of music, but I couldn't get this thing to cooperate with me for anything! I found myself so frustrated after a few days that I just took it back. It's GREAT for clean...but it will suck your tone BAD when used with distortion. It just makes it sound flatter instead of fuller. And yes...it WAS placed correctly in my effects chain. I just honestly wasn't too impressed with it. I think the MXR is a better choice.

Boss CS-3
I believe The Boss CS-3 is a key ingredient to every electric guitarists rig. What it does for clean is amazing and it goes that way for your overdrive, distortion channel.Funk, country, rock, jazz, reggae, theres nothing you cant use it for!!I use two CS-3's for my main clean tone and my crunch boost channel.I'm really happy with mine and I believe you will agree with me on this one!

Good compressor, but be patient
This is a good compressor that can even out your tone and dynamics. It's great for getting a smooth sound on lead lines.
It takes some time and experimentation to get the best sound out of this pedal; it's subtle, unlike a distortion or chorus where the effect is immediately obvious.
A little bit of the sustainer goes a very long way. I never use that feature of the pedal.

Boss Makes Yet Another "Totally Boss" Pedal!
This pedal has "versitility" written all over it! Perfect for any genre, to get that tube-driven blues tone, just turn up the attack on any clean amp. Or get that great "Sustianed-Santana" feel, this pedal will let you sustian up to 3 times longer, regaurdless your pickups.
The CS-3 is very ideal for lead players who use distortion, you can turn it on any it will compress all of your low string noise, and give you a pretty hefty treble-boost for a total face melting solos!!! Once you play one, there's no turning back!!

Clean Level Compressor W/Sustain
I play my Fender acoustic electric through the Pedal direct into a chanel on th P.A.Or House System during shows.
Picked this Compressor to control feedback (level knob)and add smooth even Clean chord transitions without spikes and string ring on the consol. Works like a Gate For Noise! The sustain is a plus for leads plenty of full body sustain.the tone is a usefull knob For sparkling clean sound or heavey bottom end tone.Great for recording a staple for the performing acoustic guitarist.
Common with Boss products a heavey duty metal chasie will last for ever and take live show punishment.
Works great for my electric Guitar amp With my amp gain distortion and dsp effects!
One clean Machine!
